Welcome to A Land Far Away, a persistent world where the vast, wondrous Dungeons & Dragons™ universe takes on a life all of its own. A place where like-minded role-players of all races, cultures and creeds gather to delight in the wonder and joy of a thousand shared imaginations. A place where the raconteur holds others spellbound; a place where every decision has consequences; a place where the games unfold before your eyes.

A Land Far Away is an online community focused around offering Dungeons and Dragons style gameplay through the Neverwinter Nights 2 engine. Players may don the hat of a Dungeon Master, or play characters. We aim to span Faerûn, through our various servers.

To get started, you need Neverwinter Nights 2, and a community-made Client Extension.

Quick Start

Neverwinter Nights 2

Neverwinter Nights 2 is a role-playing video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Atari. It provides a platform based on Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Edition. A Land Far Away further customizes the game to bring it closer to the 3.5e ruleset, provide tools for both players and Dungeon Masters, and add extra content.

Neverwinter Nights 2 is best purchased from Good Old Games.

Client Extension

A Land Far Away relies on restored functionality and additional features provided by Skywing's Client Extension. It may be downloaded here. For installation instructions, please see the CE's page.

Connecting

With the Client Extension installed, ALFA servers may be found under the Role Playing category. Alternatively, direct connect can be pointed to the following addresses:

Anyone may play on ALFA up to level 3, on The Silver Marches, Baldur's Gate or Moonshae Isles servers. To level beyond the cap, or join as a Dungeon Master, one must first apply to join. Applicants must have a level 2 or higher character before an application will be considered for approval.
