So you are a new or returning DM in ALFA, what next? All DMs are expected to have a working knowledge of the contents of the Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide. An online reference of the 3.5 edition rules are available at The Hypertext d20 System Reference Document. Additional resources that are highly recommended are the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting as well as Faiths and Pantheons. See your server's DM team for additional sourcebooks that cover your specific locale.

Once you are comfortable with the published information, the next step is to have a look at ALFA's community documents. If you are not already familiar with them, take some time to review our Player Manual, the ALFA Charter, and the Pillars of ALFA. Please scan through the information linked within that page, and take extra time to review the first two pages listed under the heading Standards; the XP Award Guidelines, and Part One of the Wealth Guidelines.

Are you a voracious reader? Is that not enough information to satisfy your curiousity? Read the Round Table Discussion for some tips and tricks about the DM Client. If crunching numbers is your thing, have a look at the ALFA Standards forum. For all of your item pricing needs, see the pricing documentation page.

For easy reference, there are a few forums for your communication with other DMs, staff, and the Admin. Keep in mind that there are server specific forums, but here are the general forums:

Naturally, you will need to have training specifically for the DM Client. The primary responsibility for training you falls to your server's HDM. The HDM may train you personally, or assign another DM to train you. Generally training will include the mechanics of the DM Client and server-specific rules and canon information. Thank you for taking on the task of DMing in ALFA, and don't hesitate to ask questions.
