Silverwood Patrol currently disabled.

Post by Swift »

As per the title, the Silverwood patrol is currently disabled until we re-tool it. The original vision was that it would skirt the edges of the new Silverwood areas and provide a couple of chances for an encounter.

As it is currently a one screen walk through completely placid farm lands with zero chance of any kind of encounter, it was decided to disable it for now. We hope to return it soon.

Makes sense. The NPC questgiver's dialog doesn't match current danger lvl at all. :)

I say, keep it as it is. Stretch the area about four cells longer, add more forest, and add back in the random "whatever spawn that sometimes is a troll spawn." You could also add in more wild critter/sometimes hostile spawn. I think Hala and Luke ran into some scary snakes last time they were out at the tower in fact.

Low level characters need a patrol they can do. They can't go up to Silvermoon Pass. They definitely can't go to Sundabar.

When I patrolled the area with my wizard I could meet 3-4 medium sized snakes. A few wolves. Several kobolds. Sometimes they were there alone, but most often there was 1-2 of them. Sufficient for low levels as I see it.

You wouldn't meet them unless you strayed from the path, so yeah it is totally without danger if done without checking out what is around the tower.

Strangely enough, the new patrol is actually more dangerous than the old one, despite the lack of appearances. I've run into brown bears, mountain lions, snakes, and kobolds all while walking to that tower.

Oh. I got attacked by them as I was on the road, the snakes, wolves and kobolds I mean. The wolf got to me before I could flee so my character perished there.

Yup I got attacked by a lion on that road. It's shorter but it's definitely more dangerous than the old route.

Word.
I got to see a bear maul a herd of horses and a farmer before Gwindor could put it down.

Even more reason why it needs retooling then. You shouldn't be getting attacked by lions when sandwiched between a patrol outpost of elite troll slayers and the walls of Silverymoon. The Knights do a better job of protecting local farmers than that.
