We could poll on it, but I am relatively certain the most commonly cited cause of people leaving ALFA that ALFA itself has any effect on is is simply boredom and inactivity. The hope is that allowing multiple PCs will decrease the barriers to players meeting up and forming parties, games, etc., and so make the project more active and more attractive as a whole. Whether or not this will translate into more active DMs, I can't say.

As to the mulling stuff, I personally don't think it will be that big of deal. Its not like we're currently bereft of ways a player can cheat. Still two PCs could be seen as a privilege, not a right.

we have a clear majority for 2 PCs. Admin I request you move forward with a trial period or tell us no, so we can make our decisions come election time.

fwiw I voted 2 pcs, however I wonder how many of the apparently 63 people that voted actually play at all?

If they were not included would 2 pcs still have won the vote? my gut says yes based on the pcs i've seen logged in when i check the forums over the last 3 weeks, but it's an interesting question, for that matter, would there be more than 1 or perhaps 2 votes to keep a single pc?

There is no (easy) way of knowing. And our active player numbers are probably better than they look. The fact we have 63 people who cared enough to vote within the 7 day time frame! is a great thing.

Wishful thinking ain't helping player numbers - the best we can achieve here is to make the current players somewhat more happy, which isn't a bad achievement, though it obviously might come a the cost of making a few others unhappy / leave. But the argument that it would increase player numbers is baseless bogus, considering this is a poll for already-members.

It has potential to make active community members to spend more time online, and the suggestion surely worth some trial time.

I can think of few scenarios :

Option 1:
With 1 PC rule : A player in BG sees in the website 5 players in TSM. He comes to the forums check for news and new posts, then likely does not bother to log alone to BG.
Without the 1 PC rule : He sees 5 players in TSM, and log with his TSM character

Option 2:
With 1 PC rule : A player with high level character see in the website or in game few players online with lower level characters, good chance he will not bother to log or play alone solo for too long.
Without the 1 PC rule: There is a chance he'll be able to log with another lower level character and play with the lower level group.

Option 3:
With 1 PC rule : A player playing evil character from evil faction see in the website or in game few online players from opposing faction, good chance he will not bother to log or play alone solo for too long.
Without the 1 PC rule: There is a chance the player will be able to log with different character that will be able to cooperate with the current players online.

You can go and on with scenarios like that...it does have a potential to make more players to spend time online, and what are the risks?

Do you know anyone who says "I will not play ALFA if more than 1 PC will be allowed?"
