A new players suggestions.

Post by fasthd97 »

1)A defintive list of modified feats/clasees weapons etc.
2) a sticky that tells us who we should send our bios to.
3)a sticky in this forum that gives server specific info so we can decide where
we want to start.
4) There are certain rules on every server that wont be changed (like permadeath here). One thing I always find is that every so often a new player will ask for it to be changed. So to save time a list of things that are prety much unchangeable and why it is so.For example dash was disabled due to pvp reasons,Invis doesnt work right so is dm supervised.
5) Dont get me wrong its a very nice place I just wanted to throw these out there as things i thought could be a little better.

Good suggestions. Fasthd, you need to contact zicada about getting your forum access straightened out so you can access the rest of the forums properly. IRC is the recommended way to get in touch with him, try sorcery.net server and #alfa-003 (TSM's channel)

I'd also suggest forwarding this to our current Player Admin, OldGrayRogue
Formerly: Aglaril Shaelara, Faerun's unlikeliest Bladesinger
Current main: Ky - something

Good ideas. And it's good to see new players simply speaking up.

http://www.alandfaraway.org/node/1265 has the list of modified feats.
Modified = banned, for the most.
Classes... I'm not sure, did we actually chance any classes? The spell regaining systems could use some clarifying, probably. The problem is that most of us found out in-game how things work. I'm not even sure is a proper explanation even exists. I'll ask AL.
Weapons aren't changed at all, but some forms of magical weapons aren't allowed.
2) a sticky that tells us who we should send our bios to.
Differs from server to server. I'll make one for TSM. the answer is usually "any DM", but that's indeed not written down anywhere.
3)a sticky in this forum that gives server specific info so we can decide where
we want to start.
What kind of information would you be looking for? DM times? Danger levels? Common races? General alignment?
4) There are certain rules on every server that wont be changed (like permadeath here). One thing I always find is that every so often a new player will ask for it to be changed. So to save time a list of things that are prety much unchangeable and why it is so.For example dash was disabled due to pvp reasons,Invis doesnt work right so is dm supervised.
We call them our "pillars", and among others they're mentioned here: http://www.alandfaraway.org/node/467
They're not immutable though, nor are any of our other rules. In fact, the idea to re-allow Dash was put forward a few months ago (and shot down).
Anyone can make suggestions, and anyone can become an Admin and make changes.

Okay, so we have the spell regaining systems and the spellbook that needs clarifying. Anything else we've gotten so used to that we forget it isn't normal?

[edit] Just thought of one myself: a list of spells that have been added.

3)Number of dms, general danger level play times relative noob numbers (nobody likes to be level one alone).Im sure some other players can post some stuff too.
7) did i see something about real familiars somewhere or was that just wishful thinking?

I'm afraid you've overlooked the Bastard Sword. We have changed that to allow 2-handed use of the B. Sword with the Weapon Proficiency: Martial feat, and 1-handed use with Weapon Proficiency: Exotic.

Heh, I was trying to work that one out myself the other day.

A very good list of suggestions. I may try and get something typed up and added to the website.

You know, as an after thought to my above post, I really love it when people new to the community take time to provide some great feedback like this. Thanks a lot, fasthd97 :)

How's this look?

http://www.alandfaraway.org/forums/view ... 31&t=44590

I haven't put in the information about class changes and how that spell book stuff works, as that will require someone with considerably more knowledge htan myself. But it's a start - and hopefully a useful start.
