Discord, because Rumple Said So wrote:[1:52 AM] Rumple: what do you think of the "beauty club" as a background idea Magile? (Sune + allied gods)
[1:53 AM] Magile: I'm... not a fan.
[1:53 AM] Rumple: ok
[1:53 AM] ithildur!: this is great. gives me perfect fit for a wis8, cha14 guy
[1:53 AM] Magile: I could go with... foolish/hopeless romanticism. Each person has something they find romantic in a way, such as saving a damsel in distress or protecting children in a chivalrous way...
[1:54 AM] Magile: Someone could have a skewed idea on what is a romantic idea/outlook. Romance not in the sense of love, necessarily, but... yeah
[1:54 AM] Rumple: ah, all good, i meant the pcs having the romantic gods. not so much a "beauty club".
[1:54 AM] ithildur!: ok. description would be very simple:
[1:54 AM] ithildur!: picture Fabio
[1:55 AM] Magile: A Rogue, for example, could think the idea of having jewels to give to a loved one would be romantic in a sense... but may do it in a poor way, such as stealing from others to procure it. Chaotic? Yes. Evil intentions? Not really... thought it's borderline.
[1:55 AM] Magile: All to win the heart of someone.
[1:55 AM] ithildur!: preens, flexes
[1:55 AM] Rumple: Magile, my paladin pc theme works with that
[1:55 AM] Magile: A Paladin could have his romanticism idea being heroically saving people in perilous danger... which could result in him often mistaking the level of danger, either saving people from miniscule things, or overlooking someone in danger to protect someone more in danger
[1:55 AM] Rumple: I think we could be onto something
[1:56 AM] Magile: A Fighter could have the idea of romanticism in the grace of their blades and how artful they are in combat... often creating extremely large tells that the enemy might be able to take advantage of.
[1:56 AM] Magile: But he'd look damn fabulous doing it.
[1:57 AM] Magile: A Bladesinger to the extreme, basically
[1:57 AM] Rumple: an -artist-
[1:57 AM] ithildur!: lol
[1:57 AM] Rumple: weapon master, ith?
[1:57 AM] ithildur!: that could work
[1:57 AM] Magile: A druid could see the love between animal and man (non-sexual) being the ideal romantic thought. Having people being able to co-exist as s/he has with animals. S/he could try to broker the barriers between beast and man...
[1:57 AM] Magile: But it may not turn out as expected... when the animal mauls poor Billy.
[1:58 AM] Magile: But she won't give up!
[1:58 AM] Rumple: I feel like Magiles poetic musings need to be recorded (very good!)
[1:58 AM] Rumple: (and posted in the idea thread to see if it inspires anyone else)
[1:58 AM] ithildur!: "Look at how beautiful my blades are, how gracefully they move through the air. If I could make love to them, I would."
[1:59 AM] Magile: You could play an Archer of some type (Fighter, Ranger, Arcane Archer) who believes the perfect shot to be the pinnacle of beauty and romance. If he ever misses, he begins to weep sorrowful tears at what may actually have been something great... if he is slightly off the mark, he curses the gods for not finding his true purpose with his strike.

The tragedy and comedy of all this is that it comes fresh on the heels of a triumphant climax in the story thus far... I guess the bad guys got their revenge after all.

It is a great theme - romance (in the grand meaning of the word). So many ways that artistry, inspiration, poetry could be expressed in a pc. Feel free to get on board, dear readers.

Declared

Ith - glorious and beautiful ftr/bard
Magile - Human Cleric of Sune
Rumple - Human Paladin of Sune

Sune, Mystra, Milil, Selune, Sharess, Lliira and Lathander are all options of faith for this crew.

This link will bring you to our travel map (western side, beginning in Daerlun and moving to Waterdeep). If you can think of a PC from any point on that path, or nearby enough to pull your PC toward the path to meet us, then that would work very well for a bio. We're all meeting from the march that Rumple's PC and my PC began from Daerlun, with everyone having their separate motivations and such, but the big thing linking us is not only the relationships amongst the gods and goddesses, but also the obsessive hopeless romantics/romanticism in their every day life, actions or whatever specific you'd like to do. I gave silly but potential examples in the chat logs above.

Since there was a -wee- accident in the sewers, a place to discuss what class and race you're leaning towards, and talk shared backgrounds if that interests you - For new pc's.

Surviving pcs classes include...

[strike] Barbarian (If Kree doesn't retire) [/strike] - Retired ---
Bard (a few multi-class)
[strike]Cleric (Toliv)[/strike] - out for at least a few weeks or more
Fighter (1?) --
Monk (1)
Ranger (a couple?)
Rogue (a few multi-class)
Sorcerer (1)
Wizard (a few multi-class)

Looking at the mix of more active players though, we are probably short on tank types, and divine types now.
Well, I'm an emotionally fragile man so it always takes me a bit of time to shake off a PC death.

But maybe...

Shaundakulian human fighter or ftr/clr, traveller along the Trade Way jumps in with the Sunites on the way to Waterdeep. He's hunting Sharrans. (The concept is really more "favored soul of Shaundakul" but in NWN1 I think MC ftr/clr might be the best way to implement)

or ...

Young Mystran wizard from Sembia who fancies himself a "Guardian of the Weave".

or ...

Dwarven fighter/rogue dungeoneering expert. A tank but with skills in traps, explosives, stone work, sapping etc.
PCs: NWN1: Trailyn "Wayfarer" Krast, Nashkel hayseed

The whole plan is switched up for Sune and her allies (Mystra, Milil, Selune, Sharess, Lliira and Lathander). If you can make any of the concepts fit those, it'd work.

Fair warning though: Our hours are very different from yours.

FYI, if you lot are short of some class, I can park/retire/murder Dahvet and will gladly make a PC that only shows up every other RL week. It just sounds more fun to start up from the floor with you all :-)

Any class can fit. Thus far, it seems like our plan currently yields...

Paladin of Sune
Cleric of Sune
Rogue of XXX
Fighter/Bard (Gish) of XXX

Anything can really fit in. The big thing that the group would be looking for is romanticism in the character's ideals and such. I posted a handful of examples of extremes but fitting ideas as to how characters could be influenced - it's not necessarily about the gods themselves or loving everything. But, needless to say, it's more of a Neutral/Good thing and not an Evil thing.
