One owner, a man by the name of Dean Ellison, an agent with the Baldur's gate merchants guild, has vowed to get the bottom of the illness that has come over his prized horse, and offers a reward to anyone with information as to how this happened or to anyone that can remedy the illness.
Rumors say that an Elf who can be found frequenting the Jovial Juggler offers additional coin to anyone who solves this mystery and gives a fair recounting of the tale.

Some speak of the Elf's reward as unimaginable wealth... Others scoff and claim the elf's 'reward' will be a crusty piece of stale bread and a few coppers.

The two men stumble into the Jolly Calishite. The older man looks to have taken a few blows and however he walks steadily holding up the younger man. The younger man’s face is pale, he has multiple deep arrow wounds, and walks with a pronounced limp.

The old man barks “Innkeep, I need a bed for him!”

The innkeeper shuffles out from behind the bar and helps the younger man up the steps.

When the innkeepers returns to the bar, the old man curses and grouses about the road between Nashkel and Beregost.

“If’n the gnolls aint bad enough, now they trap the road with spikes. Killed us a few of the dog men, but the damn spikes got my friend. ”

OOC: If you didn’t know, the road is highly dangerous…. and now there are NASTY traps for your entertainment.

*NEWS FROM BEREGOST: Highsong Abbey has been attacked! It is said that none in the Abbey have survived. A group of adventurers were seen leaving Beregost on their way to the Abbey. Upon the groups return they reported that a fierce group of Hobgoblins had taken over the Abbey, and that they had found no survivors. The group apparently destroyed the hobgoblin threat, but the Abbey remains unprotected. The Amnish army continues its patrols, but it appears that they had not been doing enough to protect the Abbey. An investigation team has been sent to the Abbey from Beregost, but the clergy of Lathander reportedly find the unnamed adventure group to be reliable, and expect to find evidence that confirms their report. "This is a sad day, for we expect to find no survivors." One of the Church of Lathander's top priests was quoted as saying. *

((The area inside and outside of Highsong Abbey should be considered deserted until further notice. Ignore any NPCs that may spawn there))

In the Blushing Mermaid, patrons can be heard talking about a recent murder. "Aye, them watch were all about, searchin' all 'long the river and the docks last night. Some fool got seen gutting a bitch, and dived into the harbor. Dunno if they found 'im. Saw a kid toss a good bit o' devilweed in the drink when he saw the law comin' though, har har."

"I heard a watchman was killed outside the Bitch Queen's temple. Might've been the same guy?", asks a serving wench.

"Mebe. Would explain why they're all in up arms, eh? Those orc-fuckers don't lift a finger unless its one of their own."

"Aye, bugger the watch.", the wench says as she moves to another table.

There is talk around the Gate and the Docks that the ranger Lash Stone was seen leading none other than his sometime companion Luciano Lenchantin in through the East Gate tied up like a criminal at the end of a rope. In between sobs, the dandy Luciano, his nose bloody and appearing broken, cursed both Stone and the Fist guards. Stone led Luciano directly to the Watch Post in the docks, and its said that he was the man wanted for the murder of the Watchman and a young girl. In the taverns round the Gate several of the Watch tell of how Lenchantin had used Stone's name as an alias to throw the Watch off his trail, and talk of how the ranger donated the bounty on the murderer's head to the family of the slain Watchman.

An unknown halfling has stuck around in Gullykin for a few days to rest after a weary journey with a large mail bag.

She manages a little smile at the brewer. "Hi, I'll be travelling soon but if you got mail to send, just let me know and I'll bring it to the gate." She uses the time to knock on a few doors, to see who is around... and get to know people.

She tries to take the time to get to know the other halflings in particular but thus far, with little success. She is quiet and sullen in the inn, occasionally talking to Rain.

"...maybe they sense I am not like other halflings..." The halfling may have said to herself.

Or it could easily be any number of things.

Still the day is young, and there is a little hope still as she wonders around the town, trying to see what they have made of it.

The city watch are seen hauling what looks to be a four armed creature the size of a small boat from the sewer entrance in the Docks District. Though it has no head the thing has the tail of a rat. . .which four watchmen are using it heave it around.

Conversation over a tankard of ale in the Blade and Stars would have it that Justin Black and a crew of mercenaries under his command felled the beast and its wererat master. . .though the same tale would have an eastern woman from this band riding the beast around before she punched through its skull. Either way the mysterious plague of rats has disappeared - some cause for celebration!

The residents of Beregost heard a the baying not not just a few packs of gnolls to their south but the war songs of many thousands of the gnolls carried over the countryside for miles around.

Hours later a band of scouts out of Gullykin came back from the south on their way home and told the residents of a small army of the dog men far south and west of the town where The Cloudpeaks meet the sea

Local knowledge in Gullykin - The inhabitants in Gullykin have taken to wearing black, as they mourn a hin girl who went to hide in the trees during a game of "hide and seek". One hunter returned from the wood of sharp teeth saying he had seen footprints there heading inwards, but he lost the trail.
