Actually, as our will to govern our project with rules and a vision of our own has dwindled, we have allowed it to become more and more like that.kid wrote:It is not a scared holy bible of whatever.
A sacred holy bible that is, though I'm sure we could manage to scare it, too...

Re: Which alignments do you play? How do you play them?
Damn. Saw 7 pages and on an alignment thread and thought we might have a budding flame war. Pity.
Also onto the topic at hand, I have played LE, NE, and CN in ALFA, and will likely keep to the NE and CN in the future simply because you can usually play with any one with those two alignments. Other alignments in ALFA just tend to get you excluded, which after playing Barid (who honestly when started, probably should have been LN) I have no desire to repeat.
I would actually like to play an honest to goodness paladin modeled out of what I did in my exalted campaign, but I don't think it would fit ALFA.

Let me hear about the Exalted paladin idea; maybe it can work on TSM.Vendrin wrote:Damn. Saw 7 pages and on an alignment thread and thought we might have a budding flame war. Pity.

Re: Which alignments do you play? How do you play them?
I'd be happy to give it a try but I simply doubt it could work without constant dm attention. After all I ran the exalted campaign on TSM. True I gave countless reasons to fall from the impossible standards Jonas provided, but that was the point. To see if a pc could meet the standards of an exalted pc. One dwarven pc got very close, but not quite given what I threw at them. And it didn't work then, Understandably so.Ithildur wrote:Let me hear about the Exalted paladin idea; maybe it can work on TSM.Vendrin wrote:Damn. So I just don't think ALFA provides the environment where an exalted pc could work simply because the type of paladin i'd like to play could survive in the world of grey morality, which any GM worth their salt provides. Now if some GM was willing to provide a world of grey morality where such LG adherence was provided/challenged/rewarded I'd be happy to participate, but again I think it would take a whole campaign focused on the more subtle nuances of alignment which my exalted campaign failed to provide.
Which eventually equals the most arrogant of boasts, do better than I could have, and sadly I have met few GMS willing left to put that much effort to do so.
Again, I mean no offense, I just have spoken with few people in ALFA willing to put that much thought into the discretionary thoughts and actions of pcs within ALFA.

Re: Which alignments do you play? How do you play them?
You're right, screw it. Sounds like way too much effort.
Kidding; but the reasons why I'd be interested are tied to what you're describing. I'm curious to see what it would look like, how things would play out for various characters, and ... how long it would take before things fell apart in our context. Currently I'm looking at different angles to explore and involve character development on TSM, so it's a relevant topic for me, especially after seeing a recent random encounter leading to some quite *cough* morally grey actions on the part of several PCs.

Re: Which alignments do you play? How do you play them?
Right now I am playing a LN toon.
The toon is mostly focused on LAWFUL... Lawful as in a personal code that rules his life. He will commit evil acts and will commit good acts. However, he desperately wants to hold onto his code among his allies and tries not to break it.
It has been good for party dynamics. Players like fair loot split and to be able trust the player next to them. He fits that well.
He was pushed on the completely chaotic side by another toon (thank you OGR) and it was fun to explore my toon's reactions to a crazed barbarian.
So far, it has been easy to do good deeds for coin. His reaction to doing good deeds for the sake of doing them would be interesting. Additionally, he has not been pushed to hard on the evil deeds thing especially within his code. We will see how he responds when it occurs.
As for other alignments, I have always liked NE/NG/LN/LE. The evil toons appeal to my darker side and they are fun to RP with. I not a huge fan of truly chaotic... it isn't me.

Re: Which alignments do you play? How do you play them?
The original plan for the Ascension campaign was to have two parties of PCs, one evil, one good. We have altered it to be evil focused. We could possibly end the first campaign after six months, and do an opposing, good campaign, for the second half of 2014. I'll run it by DarkHin to see if he's interested. I was really looking forward to the dual alignment dynamics, but people's fears over CvC based powergaming caused us to can the original idea.Vendrin wrote:I'd be happy to give it a try but I simply doubt it could work without constant dm attention. Well, my original idea was to sort of be permanent DM of "the evil group on WHL." After this campaign, I'd like to do another with the group.HEEGZ wrote:The original plan for the Ascension campaign was to have two parties of PCs, one evil, one good. Re: Which alignments do you play? How do you play them?
Okay. Well I'd be open to DMing a LG type of group on WHL or BG. I have a perpetual problem of having no regular PC groups to DM.

Oh HELL no HEEGZ, you're already committed to DMing our evil group alongside DarkHin.

Well, maybe your PC will convert to LG and you will still need me.
I'm kind of curious what this Exalted campaign was that Vendrin refers to. I'm gonna search around.
[edit]
I meant after the new campaign ends, Mik.

HEEGZ:
LAWFUL GOOD?!? ME?!?
I mean, MAYBE, just MAYBE I might stray up into the Good alignments again, like Chaotic Good or Neutral Good, but I found them really boring when I played Vellya.
But LAWFUL GOOD?!? Holy-rule-followers batman, what possible fun is there in THAT?!?
I mean really.
Alright, well, 'nuff said - HEEGZ is now irrevocably committed to DMing the group I am in along with DarkHin and thats that. Great, thanks for reading! Ciao!
