Hello ALFA

Post by MorbidKate »

I just had a wonderful evening talking about the old AFLA days and thought I’d log in to see who was still around and to say Hello. Can’t believe I first joined ALFA almost 9 years ago so it’s nice to see a lot of familiar faces who’ve managed to stay active.

As they say, RL gets in the way from time to time and priorities change but after reminiscing about The Pirate Isles and Selgaunt in nwn1 and then Silver Marches and Citadel Felbarr in particular in Alfa2, I’m seriously thinking about playing again and who knows, maybe spark up the toolset and DM wand.

I’ll surf the forums to see which servers/groups are active for my TZ (GMT -5) and see if I can track down the CDs :)

Cheers,

Kate

Hey MK, great to see you dropping in. I just returned to ALFA a couple weeks ago myself, after a 4 year absence. Great to see you.

Great minds I see

Just lurking the forums or have you started playing somewhere? I think I have an active character in the vault but would be willing to roll up something fresh for the right RP opportunity.

Glad you're back Mikayla.

Thanks! I just might have to buy them again so good to know it's still a possibility.

So, how many gigs are the Haks these days? :P

All of the gigs!

Uncompressed, 2.88gig. Pretty sure the size is around 800 - 900 megs compressed when downloaded through the auto downloader.

I think there must be something in the air these days! I wandered into the forums in March after a 6 (7?) year absence and it seems like a popular thing to do, judging by the number posts from "old timers" that are cropping up. Welcome back! Sit and stay a while.

And if you think of anybody else you might want to contact about coming back by, check out this forum: http://www.alandfaraway.org/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=372

Found the CDs but it won't update past 1.20.1541

Don't suppose there's a standalone patch to the final version somewhere? Took a quick on on nwvault and some patches are missing. :wall:

I had to download and patch them in manually using some instructions from NWvault. Actually, I used this NWN2 Patcher: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NW ... tail&id=12 I had to run these specific files, but yours may be different:

nwn2_pcx2_english_from1201541_to1211549.rtp
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1211549_to1221586.rtp
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1221586_to1221587.rtp
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1221587_to1221588.rtp
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1221588_to1231763.rtp
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1231763_to1231765.rtp

Got these from here:
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=nw ... tail&id=19
or
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NW ... 30#english

Did this a couple of weeks ago using my original CDs and DVDs, and then I had to install and run Skywing Client Extender before I could see games in the multiplayer browser:

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=nw ... ail&id=231

It should have a readme to explain the install process. I ended up getting help from Zelknolf on IRC, but you should be able to get it sorted from these links. Good luck!

Hi Kate,

Great seeing your name again in the posts. Yeah, if you are going from the CDs the above info is helpful, but I recommend the gog.com purchase in my sig. It will be all updated and for $20 then all you will need will be auto downloaded when you first log into a server ( I think the alfa haks are about the size of the internet now)

Again, wonderful to see you.

Max
