Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
A dockworker tells this story at the Boar's tusks, merrily recounting the night's entertainment.
A barmaid comes up and asks the best question of the night however. "When did they make a law like that? Good law, but never heard of that before."
The men listening to the dockworker's story nod and smile. Responding with varied versions of 'bout time that crew was cleaned up, damnable scum they was, good riddance, send them back to skaug'.A couple of ffolk sailors were drinking at the Slippery eel, debating on whether or not they liked the bartender enough to help him out with a rogue captain and his dangerous looking men that were threatening him, when a group come into the tavern and got their attention.
A tiny lass dressed in silks and obviously in charge, apparently some government official, and her mercenary guards come in with a blonde in tow. The blonde pointed out the the toughs, and the official throws some magic to get there attention, probably so they knew they were in trouble... lights dancing about their heads and such and she calls the captain over.
The official little lady informs the captain of his merchant responsibilities, all official like; tells him that the blonde wants a refund on something she bought from him. She quotes a law about a 'right to refund on purchases over 100 gold in price if return requested within 10 days.' Blonde was upset about something to do with a lute. The sailors look on, now joined with the attention of near everyone in the bar, as the blustery and bullying captain and his men stand about dumbfounded as they are informed that if they do not come to some arrangement their ship will be impounded.
The ffolk become amused by the bullying crew getting their comeuppance, and watch on with growing glee, as the captain struggles to find the funds or collateral to return to the blonde for the lute, even going so far as to take a horse from one of the crew. Then they go outside to finish the deal.
Hours later, the crew is still sitting inside and one looks to the other and says. 'You think they arrested him?' They wander out to see what happened, and don't return. Leaving everyone wondering what kind of trouble they might have gotten into.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
A Pretty hin enters Corwell, but her arrival to the Moonshae is filled with sadness.
"Why did he die so bravely, for everyone?" She asked softly. She raises her drink, "I write this poem for you, Thorbar, Dwarf of Courage... May sune Bless your spirit, with beauty in whatever place you reside."
Walking in dust upon shattered sands,
I spied the clang of metal and man
One with coin he did flee,
A beard with courage and strong decree
The three savages who lusted for blood
His fair companion was bade to run
To protect beauty he drew his blade
He didn't even know the shade of her hair
Thorbar Thorbar they did take,
And for a time I knew so much hate
Why did they do this,
But all I heard was the wind.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
*rumors of a sensational nature are trickling up from the low-lives and bandits of Skaug to the Swamptown Flotilla, and into the stories of bards seeking to excite their ever more easily bored audiences*
It seems a Yuan-ti princess 'as been kidnapped in Skaug and taken down to tha' Underdark by a passel of Dark Elves. Ya you think you can fight evil with evil? Ya never heard of Yuan-ti?
Well from what I've been tol' she's a half-snake and half-elf lady. The feller who told me says she is a real looker if you like fangs and scales. That's right, fangs and scales, and a great long lickery tongue at that!
So this Northman feller says they got the whole town in an greedy uproar. The mother of the snake girl is offerin' a chest of gems; a queen's ransom for the return of her girl.
But no one knows how deep the drow took 'er right. But they do know who' ever got the girl took her out through the crypts of Skaug. It's a loathsome place full of the decomposing remains of any poor soul or evil hand that fell prey to Skaug justice. They even got some of those giant jelly cubes. Can you imagine tha', a big cube cut out of snot and made to life by some sort of dark magic! Eats through flesh like fire through wood!
Well, I know i'm not goin' to Skaug anytime soon. Too much nonesense! No Ffolk in their right mind would even think of headin' down to that mess of trouble.
Imagine what'd they'd see down there though. Jus' imagine!
(This is a CR 3-5 experience for band of at least five or six adventurers. They would be motivated to help a Yuan-ti noble. It will take at least two hours if you RP and take your time. It is NOT for anyone over level 8. It is not fair to get a level +8 player and take them through there just ripping through it. I will remove loot and gains from any group I see doing that.
There IS an opportunity for RP with DMCloud once you get your party together. I am home this weekend and if you send me a note in IRC chat, I will log on and DM you meeting with the noble Yuan-ti Queen at the start, and if you make it, the end game.)

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
After many quiet days rumors in Corwell speak of a new face in town, a beautiful young woman who's been frequenting various locales throughout the Moonshaes.
The staff at Trapper's report that the woman was well spoken and a generous tipper, and arrived in the region from Waterdeep, moving here to seek a 'more peaceful life' than the one she left behind.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
*A new rumor is floating around Skaug. A Drow noble, purchasing surface goods and slaves, has gone missing. Furious members of his House are swarming the docks searching for anyone who saw him disappear. The crew of his Gith ship are baffled while the dockworkers swear "they seen nuthin'."
And still no one has returned from the crypts of Skaug. One is left to who will claim the booty from the Yuan-ti princess (see above 1 post.)*

Word makes it through the back channels of the denizens of Skaug, that two individuals would perhaps be willing to delve for said "Princess" if the price is right. The two can be found about the smell of Apples.

Re: Tavern Tales & Rumours
Rumors in Corwell as well as Koart spread of a second, larger skirmish that took place somewhere on the Kings Road between the two settlements. It is said that a few individuals that have become somewhat familiar faces in Corwell were involved, as well as the savage raiders rumored to be cannibals, and a third group suspected of being bandits.
The strangest part of the rumors speak of the fact that when several chastised guards from Corwell returned to the site for further investigation, most of the corpses of the savages, as well as that of a woman suspected of being involved with the bandits, had outright vanished.

*rumor is (also) that there are still undead rising in the Skaug Crypts. Most folk are fine leaving it alone and barring the door. But some folk say the dead are pilling up outside and they need to be put to rest in the Crypts again*
