OzALFACon 2013?
Been a long, long time since we had one of these. By my reckoning, we have 5 aussies? still kicking around the place and I have heard that Lou and Rotku may be showing some interest as well, which gives us:
Swift
Dorn
Rumple C
Elcadaver
Creslyn
Rotku(?)
Lou(?)
Who is interested and if you are, when? I am keen for travel to just about anywhere in Oz, though I presume with 3 out of 5 aussies being perth based, that is the best option. My vote would be for some time around October, as I have a trip to Japan in April and am in Melbourne for PAX in July, so money will be tight until then.
Of course, other times can also fit (except November perhaps, as Lou and I will be somewhat engrossed at that point with NaNoWriMo).

I'm thinking of heading over to the east coast sometime this year. Was originally looking at easter, but could shift the time frame. Woukd have to be during the NZ school holidays though.

Oh I should probably say that Perth is probably out for me. Just that much more expensive to get me and my partner there (nearly 3x the cost).

I missed the "for" and was all like: "He doesn't know where he is?"Joos wrote:I'm in for Melbourne, Sydney or Adelaide.
pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

Turns out I have a grand total of 10 weeks holiday for the year, 5 which must be used by December 31st... if one of you blokes can put me up, maybe I'll come crash this Alfacon too.

If we do it in Adelaide, I have a couch for you. I am sure my housemates won't mind

Re: OzALFACon 2013?
Seriously though, Aussies, whats the plan? Where should we make this happen and when?
Re: OzALFACon 2013?
Sounds like an even split between east and west coast.
Given that Elc and Dorn are both family men and hence probably have limited time to entertain, and i am frequently away with work, i'd say go east coast.
It is possible i could be out that way with work, or pass through and make it a trip through to NZ. Unlikely though.
Also, i probably wouldn't just to spite Lou. I want to be the boss-pokemon (Rumplemon) whom she can never catch.
