Superbowl XLVII or Superbaugh...

Post by Hialmar »

Who, in your opinion, will win the Superbowl this year ?

I'm for the niners because the ravens miss a good QB and everyone knows this is a passing league ;)

Now, if the Ravens win that would be a nice retirement present for Ray Lewis so that's cool as well.

What are your thoughts ?

And yes, for those that wonder this is about real football (also called Grid Iron Football or American Football) not the one where sissies simulate wounds to get penalties or yellow cards (soccer).

Superbowl? Is that a kind of new nasty hodgepodge food from KFC?

You mean cuddle-the-egg?
The sport that was invented after football, has no connection to a ball or feet and for some reason insists on that name. *nod* yes.

So... Uhm... The older bro will win. cuase thats just the way it is.
Now, which one is the oldest?

American Football. Wait, I think I know what that is; isn't it Rugby except they need armour to protect their delicate bodies and it takes four hours of standing around resting to play 60 minutes of actual game? Yes, I remember it now.

;)

Yes, I do jest, and I do like watching it from time to time. Rugby will always be my first choice, however. Football (sorry, only the USA calls American Football just Football) I have no time for at all; it's little more than a parade of overpaid, emotionally stunted numpties flouncing around pretending to be injured every time the wind changes direction.

I vote for the Blues to win.

One cannot expect those who simply do not understand... to understand. One can only hope and pray that one day, their eyes and understanding will be opened so they gain illumination.

I've met Jim Harbaugh (server at a restaurant he occasionally dined at) a few times; very nice guy, down to earth. Decent quarterback who probably could've done better in a better system, had the misfortune to end up playing QB for Ditka's Bears after being Mike McCaskey's 1st round pick not Ditka's (worst situation to play QB in the entire league; da Coach simply had no clue how to handle QBs and McCaskey was hopeless as a GM) had a few good years, great competitor. I'll bet their dad (also a football coach) is so proud his chest is going to burst at some point during the game.

That seems to go for anything America does :P

Do they still proclaim them world champions despite not having a team from any other country competing? ;)

There isn't any serious international competition for American football, and arguably baseball as well (though Little League baseball, that's another story). :)

Maybe someday it'll change, like it did with basketball.

Baseball is pretty huge in Japan.

The USA has a Rugby Union team and they didn't do all that badly in the last Rugby world cup (a worldwide competition in the truest sense). They beat the Russian team but lost to Ireland, Australia and Italy in their group. No shame in losing to Ireland and Australia, and Italy, once the Six Nations wooden spoon perennials, are the most improved side perhaps in the world to date. USA are ranked 14th in the world I think.

You couldn't slide a peice of paper between France and New Zealand, but the All Blacks sneaked it.

Loved the way the French approached the Haka in spearhead formation, captain at the point. Such a cool start to any game, particularly a final.

Bah don't remind me of that damn world cup final :(

France should have lost before that match but being there they should have won if the referee hadn't been afraid of being mobbed...
