Knights in Silver have reinforced Kelb and The Hawks nest and have increased patrols on the road up to Sundabar. It is rumoured that rarely does a patrol return without significant losses and damaged armour, however.

Spirits are high in Rivermoot despite the continuing pressure from mountain raiders and dwindling food supplies. It seems a young Knight known as Sir Richard du Lyons organized a successful evacuation of civilians with the aid of some goodly adventurers that has both alleviated troop concerns over their families and lessened the stringency of food rationing there.

Quervarr has received reinforcements as well, but it is said the losses incurred in fighting there continue to outstrip the available troops. Some troops in High Hold have been heard to grumble that dispatch to Quervarr is tantamount to a death sentence.

"Might as well jus' hang 'ere fer desertion as die an' be eatin' by the beasts, says I".

There have been several floggings at High Hold and troop discipline and moral are rumoured to be low.

Reports from the Khelb and Hawks Nest garrisons indicate that orcs and other creatures have been seen moving over Silverymoon Pass.

News from Sundabar and Felbarr has been sparse.

A significant number of Argent Legion troops stationed in Rivermoot were seen setting off into the hills with the rise of the sun, led by a veteran commander who, it is said, has seen more than his fair share of battles. It is rumored among the townsfolk that they march ultimately to the beleaguered people of Settlestone.

Talk among the tavern regulars is less upbeat.

A large force of legion soldiers were seen to march up the Frosthills road toward 4th Peak led by a competent looking Lieutenant assisted by two sergeants. Spirits seemed high as the polished and formidable force filed across the bridge and many were heard to say the high roads would soon be pacified and returned to order.

Near on a day later three breathless adventurers (an elf and two men) staggered across the bridge and took counsel with Sgt. Wilson. It is not known what was said, but the Sgt. was seen to become agitated and called loudly for scout to "step lively for dispatch".

As it happened, Sir Rathalan Whitsword was on hand and quickly took command of the situation. He returned Sgt. Wilson to his tent and spoke with two of the adventurers at some length in the guard tower, then departed quietly with two scouts up the Frosthills road into the mountains.

On a stormy night, some residents of Rivermoot awoke to the sound of heavy hail pelting down on the town. Upon the dawn, to their horror they discovered numerous severed heads lay within the towns walls, most still wearing the helms of the Argent Legion. A grim looking Sir Rathalan Whitsword helped two other men collect the heads as fast as possible, but word quickly spread of the grisly occurance. An hour after the sun rose, tribal yells could be heard echoing from the hills.

The mood for quite some time was sullen, to say the least.

It is rumoured that despite the dispatch of more troops to Kelb and Hawlk's Nest and frequent patrols by the Knights in SIlver, the road to Sundabar and Felbar remains mostly impassable.

Talk of mounting losses by the valiant Knights in Silver seems to be shocking and troubling to the good folk in SIlverymoon and no less than terrifying to the folk outside her walls.

A fright washes over town of Khaleb, a dragon, red and huge, was spotted on the mountains surrounding the small hamlet by a lone traveler. The town was warned and alarm was raised and the guards spent the night in anxious vigil.

When morn came the beast was gone.
Some speculate the lack of wild life and food supply in its former habitat
due to the orc horde may have pushed the creature closer to the human settlement.

Word travels through the Marches of a massacre by the orc hordes of the Grey Wolf and Black Raven tribes living in the woods and hills around Settlestone. Orcs have moved into the area in great numbers and taken over the the settlements of the tribes. The inhabitants of Settlestone have closed the gates and sit nervously behind their walls sharpening weapons and praying to what gods might listen.

((Changes will be made IG to the area to reflect this, but until they are implemented please treat this as IC information))

News of the Orc horde draws a scattering of adventurers and zealots up the rivers and roads toward the Marches. A familiar but weathered face steps off the boat in Rivermoot, pauses, and slowly takes in the sights, sounds, and smells of his almamater.

First stop is to the town armorer to impart a tip and thanks for service long past. Second is to the tavern to post a note, then on to High Hold with a similar note in hand. It reads:

"Aedin of Hornshadow, seeking peers to defend human lands of the Marches, and to lay sword to Orcs and other beast races that threaten them. Leave note with the tavern keeper."

A wizard in green named Marcus has been inquiring at local taverns for old friends. Names mentioned include Laniara, Madeline, Alyra, Leif, Jonas, and Garlus.

He also stood for several minutes in front of the door of the Transmutation tower in the Lady's College, gritting his teeth.

Smoke is often seen rising from the chimney of the estate outside Rivermoot, the former Therin orphanage. Locals report Marcus Wands is once again in residence, and strange noises and blinky lights are heard and seen late into the night.

The same tall, thin wizard can be spied occasionally in the fields during sunny days, pulling weeds, mending fences, drawing water from the well, and performing other mundane farm chores.

Rivermoot is abuzz with gossip about the return of the local wizard Master Wands, a battle across the river from the docks in which Argent Legion Scout Farnsworth was killed, and talk of an odd blue skinned warrior infrequently seen going into the hills above The Moot.

"He's a fairy, I tell ye...*says a washerwoman*...one o' those moonfolk"

"Nay!"...*says the baker*..."I seen 'im layin' in the river for over an hour after he come down bloodied. Nay fairy can do that...'e's one o' them fishfolk."

"Fishfolk?"...*a legion pikeman guffaws*..."Ye'd best share yer grog if ye got that much ter drink. Thar be nay such creature!"

"Well..."...*says the washerwoman*..."if 'e's killin' gobbers I dinna care whot manner o' fairy 'e be, I'll wash 'is breeches fer 'im nay charge"

Corporal Du Lyones has not been seen in Rivermoot for some time.

If asked, Sgt Wilson has little to say on the matter but does look to the mountains with some worry.

Rulings circulate about High Hold that a large legion force has been dispatched to a wooded area hear High Hold and that there has been heavy fighting near a decrepit tower in a known gnoll hunting ground.

Field medics report many losses, but claim that the staunch legion force holds it's ground.

It is also rumored that a bloodied group of adventurers led by the increasingly renowned elven scout Maeredhel and goodpriest Keren Horn carried the limp body of a beautiful eastern woman believed to be called Itishi.

There is nervous talk among the Legion guards and scouts in Rivermoot. There was word of a group of adventurers heading up into the hills and of several being lost in a cavern battling the orcs that now roam them freely. Only one returned, battered and bleeding, and confused.
