Just wanted to say, I am a huge fan of the splash screens that show while an area is loading. Who ever did the work did an amazing job. The Sune page makes me want to convert.

Thanks. :D

And Swift, here: https://github.com/ALandFarAway/ALFA-Ba ... com_12.tga
(view raw will spit the image out at you in whatever way your browser's set up to handle .tga files)

Fair warning that the screens are 5.5 megs each uncompressed.

Yeah, I like most of the splash screens too. Good stuff.

I'm not so keen on the blurred /tell window snapshot though; why? And the dog walker photo looks too modern, probably because of the perfectly tarmaced road.

None of the screens are set in stone, of course, and I'm not terribly thrilled about having the same visual on 58 of them currently, though I would disagree on the complaint about the roads. Good roads do exist in Forgotten Realms, and they're a big deal where they exist: in fact, the Baldur's Gate server pretty much covers the whole region that is exactly what the screenshot represents (i.e. the Trade Way as it passes between Baldur's Gate and Amn, the northern half of the server has the climate of a temperate rain forest, with a large, flat, well-manicured road running right down the middle of it). I guess I'd be happy enough to see the road textured to look more like individual stones (and I'd encourage anyone with the will and the vigor to have a crack at it; improvements are improvements, and I'll happily include them if they're provided), but that's not really high priority on my own queue.

To the snapshot of tells-- we're changing the way tells work. Not very many good visuals one can make to accompany. I don't pretend it's perfect: in fact, I wholly admit that I sent myself B.S. tells and took a screenshot next to a wall to make it, then attacked with the blur tool (not quite professional-grade work). Of course, the screen will necessarily change when we actually release the cross-server tells, so if anyone has a better visual I can use which represents "tells work differently here in ALFA, because you can send them to other servers," I'd be tickled to have it.

I actually read the blurred tell screenshot and found it very amusing Zelk; I for one approve
:)

And +1 on the enjoyment of the aesthetics of the new loadscreens; it's such an improvement that words fail me. *bows and kisses feet*

Something more akin to the technology level:

I have the TGA version if needed.

yes much better than builders trying to find a relevant load screen in the piles of irrelevant NWN2 screens. Absent this I'd be adding scenes of unicorns and fairies to the load screen for my worst crypts.

I like em all. Left me wondering in a most psychological way who the walker was and where they were going?
