Sword vs scale (DM crawl organising)

Post by Dorn »

Another farm razed. Another family off the land. In the rivermoot tavern mutters begin at a table about the news from the east. A war over? Glroious victory? All that has been seen here in the western reaches is the Legion not protecting them in favour of their precious, and distant, 'Gem'.

A young new Legion Corporal, Richard Du Lyones, fresh from Rauvinwatch walks to the group. He reminds them gently of the sacrifice of the men and women guarding the gate and highway so they may safely drink their ales in in the tavern. He reminds them that these few souls have stood firm in their duty even while the focus of the armies of the North were in the east and do not deserve their ire. The muttering dies down....a little.

The young man walks over towards a group of sellswords mud splattered and weary having said they rode in from the east. Snippets of the conversation are overheard.

"...kobalds driven to attack....need to enter the tunnels and hunt....numerous traps....Legion is looking for those of honour to aid....."
*rough laughter and a few harsh words*
"Very well, men who would take 100gold.....an equal share of spoils....."
One of the experienced harder looking men stands up "...not worth my while to.."
*several of the younger mercenaries, however, lean in closer listening. Later one of them mentions it to another hired blade he knows....*

In Silverymoon, a young lady in the garb of an acolyte of Torm approaches several apprenticies from the University asking them if any would do service for the good people of the western Marches.

[OOC]
I'm looking for a group of ~4 to go on a tunnel crawl in Rivermoot to be DMed by dergon.

Levels: pref 2-5

Characters: have a pally , maybe also a tank. Especially need roguish skills!! (but with a pally of Torm...assassin need not apply ;) )

Dates: either 6th or 10th of October, let me know what's best.

Time: 20:30:00 4-Oct-2011 GMT+8

I could make that time. My PC (Maeredhel) is in the legion and unfortunately level 6, though pretty gimpy in combat as he's a rogue/wiz. He has decent OL and DD scores (+10-12ish) with better stealth.

When?

Interested Elcad is interested

Kert is lvl5, but his last lvl is wiz, so he's not as powerful as a lvl5 fighter.

Hi all -- a couple of things.

1--- the 6th is a work day for me.... A weekend would be better. Maybe push back toward the 9th or the weekend after. Early morning US east ime is pretty good.

2- While I am loathe to give this event the kiss of death and call it a "plot" or a "story arc", I don't anticipate a single effort being the end of it all.

3- Be ready for slow play. I'm a) still a njub and b) prefer a bit of round-by round style.

4- Know your AC v touch - I'm gona ask

5- Gear up like you're dungeoneeering.

6- Feel free to pretend you're at a PnP table. Request opposed checks or do things outside of the engine. If I can figure out a way to represent them in-game... we're good. :)

9th it is. at the time above. yay!

week after is no good as i'll be getting married on the 15th and away for a fortnights afterwards.!!!  :D :luff:

So Richard 3 (pal/clr), Mael 6 (rog/wiz), Kert 5 (ftr/wiz), Slate 6 (ftr/immovableobject)

I'll get spending on healing scrolls i guess:)

Thanks for the advice on your DM style dergon. Helps a lot (and is also great to knwo it'll be RPed not just spawn bashing!)

PS - can we move this to the non-IC thread?

Questions

what time you thinking?

Can we get a heal bot?

I will commit to being there, barring life threatening emergencies, as I am on call for the hospital on the 9th.

P.S. please don't kill my toon!

heh.

Time is on the first post.

Unless another shows up (and it's by no means closed....anyone stick their hadn up), my char richard will take on healing duties, but will need to purchase scrolls.

As to Kerts survival.....given he shall be positioned squarely between Richard and the enemy i can make no promises ;)

I are a former Aussie/Kiwi timezone dude; can I play? :D I may be able to pull off Sunday morning if there's room for a slightly squishy lvl 3 who can arch or melee and has a very thin spellbook, but a roguish smile you'll grow to love... or hate.

Level 9 character here that wants in..... nah I'm kidding, Looks like you've got something good going on here, and great to see something aimed at that level range!

Look forward to hearing how it goes down :)

I've got a session with viigas on the 6th. This means Maer may be: dead, level 7 (ro3/wiz4), or stuck in the Underdark somewhere on the 9th. I can delay leveling but the dead or stuck things might be problems!

But we do have a new rogue on TSM, Miz's new PC Malmsy. I have no idea if she's available, I just don't know of any other rogues (save Bevan, who seems to have left TSM).
