He better come back with another. I loved that PC. This saddens me...those [redacted] were put in due to high lvl players demanding more challenging spawns to fight...

This could be naivety talking but in other PWs upon examining a beastie a rough approximation of relative challange posed by the gribbly is displayed, e.g., Easy / Challenging / Run-The-Feck-Away. Such broad challenge terms aren't ideal, they take no account of travel companions for example, but they at least allow the player to identify Level Instant Doom spawns from Level Doable ones on sight.

Is there a machanic to link such info to a skill (Survival / Lore / Whatever) thus empowering outdoorsmen when DMs aren't around?

Is this function already in the game and I've managed to play here for nearly a year without ever noticing it..?

Nothing wrong with higher level spawns, but I have felt all the way since live that the ALFA choice to *not* give names to creatures in the name of meta prevention hindered PC ability to assess encounter risk. This is especially true in medium sized high CR creatures that bear a strong resemblence to a more "mundane" creature.

Don't get me wrong, by "examining" the creatures, a PC could note that this is a different challenge level than standard, but it was still surprising the attack was so strong that the PC would me fugued in 1 round.

Anyway -- back to props-

Burt, you're RP is tolerable. ;) (unlike your PC)

Apologies. Will start a thread in a more appropriate location.

Edit:

Someone else added this bit...

Please do so...I hate the fact we have zero indicator of difficulty. I figured the magic swirlies surrounding the wolves were a tip off, but they are not very visible in game.

Otherwise I feel I must fill the server with CR1 spawns....and then get complained at by high lvl PCs...

A big thank you to all the Moonshaes' players and DMs who've made me feel so welcome at their gaming table. Outstanding roleplay from all. I am in the Realms, thanks to you.

Some nice RP of late. Specific thanks today to Rorax (and I think blacksheep on the "silent assist" too) for a nice session. :)

A big thank you to Tridisus and *all* of the Skaug crew. No matter how it plays, it is high quality play and am lucky to be able to take part in it.

I would like to send out 'props' to player Tegid for his portrayal of Kard. Awesome job of staying IC and really needling my own character, lending extra bite and depth to a session of development for her. Good stuff. It's RP like that that's what ALFA is really all about and keeps people coming back for more.

I second what Mirabai said. Nice job, Tegid. Keep it up! (regardless of the IC consequences with which Kard is flirting ;) )

Getting to know some new PCs (and some older PCs better) with a good old dungeon crawl. Trid is the Cal Ripken Jr of ALFA DMing.....way to go with the consistency :)

New Tempite - fun, Illy - well portrayed wild elf, Jmecha- --well, you suck.....but everyone else, Great Job!
