Those chickens were unspeakable.
Lucky for Glorfindel he was around 4th level when Shadowdale went Live.

I heard someone 'tested' the random fires that were part of a quest for the Mage Guild on Waterdeep and um, burned to death.

Seeing folks attempt to show off their skills at Deflecting Arrows and Counterspell provided endless amusement too. I seem to remember Misty's Laurelin roll a critical hit when someone asked her to test his skill. :-)

Oh yes, testing spells. I remember Dornstaag Greymantle wanting to show off "ghostly visage". He handed his staff over and demanded to be attacked with it. After emoting *pokes with staff* he said, "No, as hard as you can!" and then went down from a crit handily surpassing the DR... wizards :D .

Counterspell is dangerous due to iniative mostly though. Even natural counters and immunity-granting spells only work if you started casting them before the other person did. Rumour has it Aravilar also sustained some injuries during the field tests for that...
The power of concealment lies in revelation.
