just to note, Cryptic reps are refusing to call it an MMORPG. Stating that it is an rpg with multiplayer cooperative play. That may deter some wowers.

New interview about the game:

Interesting bits for us:

Interesting bits for us:
JE: For novice users, the focus for FORGE will be creating quests. One option will definitely be to hook it up to the persistent Neverwinter world, but we are discussing the ability to create your own campaign world on its own virtual server.
...
NeN: Still along the same lines of Forge; I would rate the user friendliness of the Aurora Toolset (from the first Neverwinter Nights) as a 10 (being the easiest), while the Toolset for Neverwinter Nights 2 was a little more complex, and I would have rated that a 5. Where would you rate the friendly-userness (is that even a word?) for NEVERWINTER’s toolset?
JE: Wow. I guess I’d say the Aurora Toolset would be significantly more difficult than what we’re aiming for. We’d like something a little more user friendly…maybe a 15 on your scale.

More confirmation of how useless it will be for us.

Ten to one, they will ignore entirely researching their market and aim for 11-18 year olds and of course completely ignore that people want to RP.
(ON that note, who EVER thought it would be more fun to have EVERYONE be captains on a star ship? A Star Trek MMO should have been a series of SHIPS that you could work as an officer and RP as thus. Anyone who knows the fan base of Trek, KNOWS they are probably the most hardcore roleplayers since prior to the inception of the internet.)

I don't see this as something directly useful to ALFA.
On the other hand, it can bring people to Forgotten Realms and then bring them to ALFA.
What we need to do is have a few builders and scripters to create interesting modules for this new game and advertise ALFA in the documentation.
Oh and of course I think it could be a good way to attract my old table top RPG friends to online CRPGs and then to ALFA
If everyone does this then we might get more players and DMs in ALFA.
