Just north from Friendly Arm Inn a caravan set on fire can be seen on the road. At the sight corpses of four ogres and two humans litter the ground.

Merchant league caravan guards were seen making their way to the scene place, bringing a horse and small wagon with them. Upon reaching the area, they recovered the remains of the fallen humans, some which were in truly bad shape. After searching the place briefly, they turned around back in the direction of the city.

There is much discussion in the Helm and Cloak Inn of the increasingly well-known bardess Gwenevere and her frequent companion many know as Merrin Allister emerging from the Inn pantry in the gruesome state. Some say the usually prim and coiffed bardess seemed more nearly dead than alive. Both were covered head to foot in blood and were dragging bodies so mangled and bloody there is no consensus as to whom the dead were.

It is generally agreed that two were male human warriors and one was dwarven. After the bardess spent some time lying with the dead on the inn floor, it is said that Merrin returned, pulled Gwenevere to her feet, and the two loaded the bodies onto a horse drawn cart and conveyed them toward the Palace District.

There is talk that the broken dwarven body may be that of the well known warrior Ragnus Ironlung, and that some markings of Helm and Lathander were visible on the shields of the two humans.

Word has it that a young mage is being held in a jail cell beneath the palace in Baldur's Gate for causing trouble after a rather rowdy night of drinking. No word has been heard about his release.

Within the recent Ride the Founder of Sword's Edge has been seen striding through the city with his ever present smile and swagger. From the talk about various taverns it sounds as if Laque has very large plans for the future of Sword's Edge and an open eye for new talent looking to join what Laque often describes as the Greatest Guild of Adventurers Along All of the Sea of Swords!

Word about claims to say that Ogres have taken to raiding travelers and traders along the Coast Way road connecting Baldur's Gate to Beregost and beyond. Some even speak of merchant League Caravan's having been lost to the monsters. The well known showboat and rather smug founder of Sword's Edge made a bit of a showing in the Elf Song recently as he limped in grinning and bragging of his having defeat several of the Ogres in battle and clearing a portion of the Coast Way for the betterment of his beloved city of Baldur's Gate.

The Priest of Helm emerged from belowdecks fully armored with his heavy shield strapped to his arm. A few of the sailors working the main and even the boatswain chuckled at the foolishness since the cutter The Lady Gin was yet well outside of the harbor at Baldur's Gate and still pitching in some moderate swell.

As the vessel made the calm of the protected waters and put-in to a slip on the docks, Rathalan Whitsword wrinkled his nose in distaste.

"Air's clean off the sea today, Watcher. Doesn't even smell foul of fish or garbage", said the pursur as they prepared to disembark.

"It is not the smell of this City that I find distasteful, Sir", the priest replied. He said nothing more as collected his gear and went ashore.

He spent only one night in Baldur's Gate, meeting with the High Watchknight at the City Temple and taking prayers. He arose before dawn the following morning and hastily made his way out of the City, South for the Blackstone Chapel at Nashkel.

Rumor has it some crazed man in blood read armor was creating a scene inside the common ale room of the Field Post in as he started seriously combating invisible foes as part of some bizarre and unexpected training ritual. No guards were summoned or called for on account of the ever grinning Laque taking the time to get out of his chair and talking the man into taking his imaginary foes in to the hills to fight.

Rumor has it that a small group of flaming fists mercenaries delivered a corpse of a young, elven male to the high priestess in the temple of Tymora. It is told that the high priestess insisted that the corpse will remain in the temple, at least for a while, until relatives of the deceased would come to claim it.

An elven woman entered the lady of luck's temple, claiming to be a relative of the above mentioned elf, With tears in her eyes, she muttered few words and carried him away.

That night, a large bonfire could be seen on a hill outside the walls of the city.

(posters, missives sent to TSM, and rumors abound)

A wake will be held at the upstairs of the Elfsong Tavern for the Elf Hero, known as Laque, a hero and philanthropist of Baldur's Gate and the lands surrounding found murdered dead on the highway near Uthgar's Beard in a most untimely death. Family, friends, and companions are welcome to attend.

Please inquire with Gwen or Lettinus Hold of the Sword's Edge of you would like to attend or participate in this event.

REWARD:
The Sword's Edge would greatly welcome the return of the belongings of their esteemed Laque for the betterment of the guild as well as to serve justice to those who thought it fit to remove him from our graces. Posession of his guild ring, his bow, swords, and his armor are all signs of who his killers be and are particulary sought out to be returned to his legacy.

There is much talk of the fire that consumed an unknown ship in the harbor a few nights back. Rumors say it was a pirate attack on a merchant vessal and that the pirates are roaming the city looking for an escaped captive. there are vague rumors that the woman they seek is a princess of some distant land and the ransom on her is spectacular.

A scuffle at the eastern gate was reported with much laughter at the marketplace.

Apparently Barr, a long standing guardsman and well known barfly at the Elfsong, held up a gaily dressed youth and his entourage as the Fists detail searched a caravan out of Nashkel.

It's said youth, nose held high, snorted and spurred his palfrey forwards all but riding the guardsman down. That was, of course, before the northern looking giant stuffed into a Fists tabard grabbed the youth out of the saddle with one hand and tossed him into a pile of refuse behind the turnip stall.

The trader swears their was murder in his eyes when the savage guardsman had to be hauled back to post by his comrades as he advanced on the fop sitting shocked amongs the vegetables. He also explaimed the stain spreading over the youths jollipers wasn't 'turnip juice'.

The gate market was still laughing as the party rode quickly on into the city after apologies from the senior guardsman but also a stern reprimand for ignoring the halt order by the Fists and agreemtn not to take the matter further.

Aside from the funny side for bystanders, they continued to note the Flaming Fists tightening of duties around who and what comes into the city. Especially from the south.

The huge guardsman was later seen getting a dressing down from his superior. But some said his heart wasn't quite in it.
