Re: Tavern Knowledge (II) - post your rumours and gossip here
Rumours among travelers from Settlestone speak of a massive food shortage among the populace and having been unable to procure themselves a meal while there. Also envoys from Settlestone are asking aid from other settlements to help the starving. Many of the merchants have been seen tossing and burning their entire food stock. There is word from the traders' hall that all their food might have been poisoned and they risk not eating it. The occasional adventurer, hunters, clerics, and merchants throughout the Silver Marches are spotted on the roads with Settlestone in their sights to offer aid.

Word from Fourthpeak came that small seven-person on-foot supply patrol broke through a barricade of four Ogres blocking the path between Settlestone and Rivermoot. As well a rioting band of Black Raven Tribesmen and their pet bear, were vanquished as they also stood blocking the path betwixt Settlestone and their supplies. Strangely enough these supplies were chartered from a now famed visiting easterling Sheik who has befriended the nobles of the Gem and now apparently seeks to provide acts of charity as well.Malacand wrote:Rumours among travelers from Settlestone speak of a massive food shortage among the populace and having been unable to procure themselves a meal while there. As well a group of starved travelers, Fye, and Davik reported a shining handsome knight with, (some even purported it to be the divine avatar of Lathander himself) appearing from the fog at the Fourthpeak tower, gifting them with provisions, and then returning to the mist just as abruptly.

Word comes in that as dawn approached, the lady golden eyes herself was seen approaching Rivermoot, battered and bruised as if she had been in battle. Behind her, she dragged a make-shift sled filled with the corpses of refugees from Settlestone who had died in the mountains. After dropping off the bodies at the Kelemvorite temple, it is said she lifted one herself, clad in plate and of stone-skin, and did not even stop to rest before walking down the road towards High Hold.

Some folk in Silvermoon market might be overheard discussing the brief restraint of a young turbanned woman in the stocks there. Some say she was a gypsy caught cutting purses, others say she was an assassin and theorize a hanging will be announced soon.
Most agree her incarceration was unusually brief, and that the constable took uncharacteristic interest in her. Most say that he stood with her while she was restrained and disappointed the market children by denying them their favoured entertainment of pelting the the maiden with rotted fruits.
It is said the other miscreants in the market stocks received no such protection by the constable and suffered greater harassment by the petulant urchins as result.

Trails leading to Settlestone have been littered with dead bodies from envoys carrying food, starved people from Settlestone, and various other groups that could potentially be robbers. It's no small rumour that it has become exceedingly dangerous to travel fourthpeak and there are whisperings of only a scant handful of small shipments having made the trek. Hunting parties have begun forming in Settlestone to more readily get the food to the citizens.

Re: Tavern Knowledge (II) - post your rumours and gossip here
Word begins to spread across the Marches of a great battle at High Hold fen. It seems Sir Rathalan Whitsword led a large force of irregulars across the River Rauvin to quell the undead that have so long plagued that area.
Rumours are that the effort was successful, and that many heroes were made. The name Trapper Wind, so often spoken of with disdain, seems to have gained some renown among the common-folk at last.
It is rumoured the elves were well represented as well, led by a cleric many begin to know as Daertho Elbrar. It is said the elves were supported by a maiden rumoured to have glowed in a silvered light. It is unlikely at present to hear any humans about High Hold speaking anything but praise of elves, so often spoken of in the past as frivolous and flighty.
It seems even two orc-bloods proved themselves worthy of praise, though none seem to have a name to offer of them, it is said they stood shoulder to shoulder with the civilized folk and proved themselves worthy.
There is much rejoicing in High Hold, and it is said even that Sir Severen was seen circulating amongst the revelers in uncommonly good spirits.

A man was witnessed running in a wild dash through Mulgate, in the southern parts of Silverymoon, with a handful of adventurers following in pursuit, only to disappear once outside. The man was described as a human, in his mid-twenties, nearly 6'6" with a balanced, athletic build; with dirty blonde hair that hangs in a loose part from the middle of his head to just past his ears.

A halfling, a half-orc, a musician and a couple of knights - one a man and the other a woman, both of them very attractive - are seen wandering into the swamp south of High Hold and not seen again for a number of days. When they emerge again from the swamp they looked tired, covered in mud and somewhat singed around the edges.
They are seen shortly afterwards, exchanging items amongst themselves outside the walls of the Hold. One guard on wall duty swears he saw the male knight pouting as he handed over a necklace with ivory charms to the female knight. She is then seen handing out pouches of gold to the rest of the group. It is speculated that she was the leader of the group and was paying them for the return of her necklace. Perhaps some kind of family heirloom?

What was left of a small hunting party of four, the leader of the group, a local Dwarf of Settlestone was heard returning with the meat from a very large stag. The stag was immediatly fed to the populace in a great feast, while the meat was also used to slowly get nourishment to those starving and close to death.
There is other news regarding Settlestone in that no envoys have been seen in other settlements of the marches and there have been reports from the Argent Legion that Settlestone has been on the up and up. More reports from the legion note that the passage to Settlestone still has the potential for robbers and hungry ogres. It's possible that ogres or other thieves along fourthpeak could have picked off what was left of this Dwarves hunting party.

Re: Tavern Knowledge (II) - post your rumours and gossip here
A rough group of two teamsters was seen moving a fine cart from Rivermoot to the Gem. Oddly enough they had hitched to it two fine black oxen and held their expression in deep seriousness throughout their duty.
As the cart passed, many looked and saw its contents, the battered body of a beautiful dark-haired Moon Elven girl, laid out simply, covered in a veil of white silk gauze.
Not soon after many reported what seemed to be a ghost, but others who had seen before, the beautiful solemn twin of the dead girl pacing the road toward the same destination.
The cart passed the gates of Silvermoon, the guard solemnly eyed the novelty they had seen many a time frolic outside in the caravan camps. Heads were lowered and deep sighs abounded for a beauty they now would never be able to observe again. The cart was seen last in front of Everdusk Hall as the two porters lifted her and carried her inside.

The golden oak inn has attracted another eccentric guest:
A tall woodelf known to some as a local priest from everdusk hall has been occupying the lordly bowyer suit for the last few days. The door and window firmly locked, the breaking of glass, impact of objects on the floor as well as shouts can be heard on occasion. Yesterday the ill tempered elf surfaced in a wine stained tunic and with a bandaged hand, only to purchase as many wine bottles as he could carry and withdraw into the suit again. Knocks at the door are anwered with silence or short bursts of verbal abuse.

Re: Tavern Knowledge (II) - post your rumours and gossip here
Two rumors have surface among the drunk semi-prosperous tavern and barkeeps of Silverymoon.
1. A masked Hin or Gnome has been seen moving about clandestine around town and is graffiti-ing up the fine walls of Silverwind with badly spelled swears and performing rude pranks such as burning bags of excrement on doorsteps and tossing rotten eggs at the Girls School participants.
Reports of wallets and purse being pick-pocketed are coming in. Candies and sweetmeats also have been pilfered from local merchants as well. Many people are angry and put out. Others are simply annoyed that the words "Gurls are Stoopid" and "Suk my Stohnz" are painted on the sides of their pretty little houses.
2. Davik, Bouncer and Doorman at the Golden Oak was overheard rambling about the "stuck-up" Elven in the city. Apparently one of them, a very fancy Elf lad in green armor spit in the face of his employer Linda. He said Linda had just been scolding a scullery maid for lallygagging and out of the blue, this man one of their best customers, threw a fit, spit at Linda and refused any compensation, plus had to be tossed out on his pointy ear.
Soon after ANOTHER male, white haired and black armored, said the same thing over this little matter and was escorted out. He also grumbled that working Elf gets no respect in this town and that it was nearly not worth it other than to put his daughters through the Lady's College.

A dark-robed woman was seen posting several notices within the local beer halls:
Sellsword wanted for escort within the coming days. Pay fair, but negotiable.
Inquire for Madeleine at the Lady's College
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.
Re: Tavern Knowledge (II) - post your rumours and gossip here
Whispers around the college say that the ever-frightening Garlus Ironbeard raised holy fueges in Serapheena's office about a student from the University claiming to be on University business around Felbarr when the University had sent no one to the locale. The words "Tighta reigns" were heard many times, before the Mage Madeliene entered her office, at which time the dwarf pointed her as the culprit. He left a short time later starring daggers at the pupils as he left.
