Hello Alfa peeps!

Post by Friar »

This is actually my first persistant world and I heard it was a good one with a lot of roleplaying. After looking into it I noticed it features Silverymoon which is one of my favorite places for adventure.

If you see me in game my characters will likely be rangers, clerics, or druids. Hope to have a lot of fun see you soon. :)

Druid!

There is like, 1 druid in all ALFA or something like that. Very low representation.

Welcome!

On that note, when my current character dies, I'm planning on an Urban Druid concept, master of cockroaches and rats.

Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear.
I mean, welcome to ALFA and all that, we're happy to have you with us and hope you'll enjoy yourself. But I'll admit, I worry for you.

Most - actually, all players I know about, came here from other Persistent Worlds. ALFA has a "niche appeal": slow leveling, no respawning of PCs and attempts to adhere to both the rules and the style of tabletop D&D just isn't to everyone's liking. So, instead of the usual "Welcome to ALFA, good luck with your second character", I'll greet you differently.

Welcome to ALFA. Have fun - but if you don't, blame us and not the game. Do try another PW if ALFA's not your cup of tea.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. Hollyfant I probably share your concerns with me fitting in, but I promise not to jumble up the roleplaying too much. I've been roleplaying off and on perhaps since 2002 or maybe even longer than that, yikes.

I think that as far as leveling goes it is a great idea to have characters level slowly and perhaps controlled by the GM who will fit everything into the storyline. It seems ridiculous that characters in some worlds are so strong yet they lack the humility of what it was once like to have once been slapped around. Does that make sense?

Anyway, please don't treat me any different. If you are evil and you look stronger than me then more than likely I will be begging for mercy. If you are good and you look like a hero then I will probably be cheering for you like a typical commoner.

ALFA was my first PW back in 2004 also, don't worry it's one of the best and I'm sure you'll love it!

Thanks for the welcoming remarks I am enjoying this very much and I'm not worried anymore about fitting in. Everyone has been very helpful and I wonder if I even got the chance to meet some of you. So I think you might be surprised to learn that I survived my first run. When you all began mentioning that you'll enjoy meeting my second I decided to take things really slow and carefully. I even made a friend or two.

Overall I'm overwhelmed by the talent of roleplaying. So many people are fast on their toes it is hard to keep up at times. I mostly try to sit back and be entertained for now. I just hope I don't bore anyone. haha!

I didnt. ALFA1 Waterdeep was my introduction to not only a) NWN persistent worlds but also b) Playing D&D with other people. Until I joined here, my D&D experience was BG1 and thats it.

There is hope for all. Rejoice! :D

Edit: And dont worry Friar, "Good luck with your second character" is basically the tagline for ALFA which is used to describe the difficulty curb that we present if you have never been in a hardcore RPing community. Every now and then, someone bucks that trend and is successful with their first character. Not often though. Glad to hear its going well :)
