Thank You All
Well, after 18 months or so, the journey of Dawn Shiningeye's soul has come full-circle. I lack the strength to write something up that is truly fitting for her end, but pay attention IG and you might hear a few things.
I thoroughly enjoyed breathing life into Dawn. I first came up with her concept the moment I heard that ALFA was moving to NWN2 and everyone would be starting with new PCs. I had a great time playing both her time in the light and in the darkness. Ultimately, she succumbed to the forces of good and the crushing love in her own heart.
A few thanks are in order. Please forgive me if I leave someone out.
Thanks to Dan for bringing Garlus to life as Dawn's adopted older brother. It was only right at the end that she stopped caring what he thought about her.
Thanks to Mr. Duncan for the time Dawn spent with Xujja. What happened between them served as the first spark for the dark fire that eventually destroyed her.
Thanks to ewayneself for getting Dawn ensconced in the church of Lathander in SM. Those relationships made the dark times even sweeter.
To Vendrin, special thanks are warranted for taking hold of Dawn's background and running just far enough to put Dawn at a crossroads in her life. I would have retired her over a year ago had you not started DMing.
To JLM, both for his portrayal of Rugo, the best little near-convert Dawn ever had, and for the great times as a DM pulling Dawn in so many directions. I look forward to continuing to enjoy your story with my next victim....er, character.
To Riot, thanks for bringing Marcus in to challenge Dawn intellectually and to serve as a traveling companion for so long. So sorry she couldn't really treat the orphanage the way she wanted to.
Wynna, thank you for bringing so much of the Marches to life. Your tireless efforts can never be lauded and praised enough.
Regas, thanks for taking the time and making the effort to entertain those of us with darker inclinations on the server. Thank you especially for being a champion for Dawn's full transformation to what she is today...or, what she was before the [redacted] turned her into lasagne.
Finally, I want to be sure to let everyone know what a phenomenal pleasure it has been to game with OGR. Both Thoron and Corio contributed so much to Dawn's story. Our RP contained a lot of love, more than a little pain and quite a few laughs. OGR, I thank you for being around so much and for sharing what I think is a great end to a great story.
See you all before too long with my next incarnation. Keep your eyes peeled for Zhalak bin Mzhir.
Oh, after much thought and some encouragement, I have decided to post a little story about the defining moment in Dawn's life. It can be found here. Be warned. It is fairly graphic.

It was fun to become a part.
It was fun being a part.
It was fun being parted.
Great times, looking forward to your next incarnation.

Thank you, Mick, for adding to the depth of the server with your RP and creativity. Dawn will remain an integral part of server canon. I'll see to it.
Enjoy the game

Re: Thank You All
I retired my first "established" PC on ALFA, Thoron, a wild elven ranger, because he simply could not cope with the feelings he had for a certain human golden haired elven priestess. He ran from those feelings, and the confusion and heartache they caused, back to his home in the High Forest, largely because of her.
The journey of my current PC, Corio, continues to be shaped by Dawn's life, and her death perhaps moreso.
It is a special gift when another player's RP of their character helps shape the story of your own PC in ways you did not imagine or anticipate. Thank you Mick. Looking forward to more.

Mick,
You did a masterful job of crafting a pc story filled with complexity and conflict. Dawn always walked her own path, never the easy one. While I'm sad to see her go, I know you'll come up with a new pc equally as engaging.

You have it all wrong Mick. It's we who should be thanking you.
Here's to your next incarnation, may he/she live as interesting and meaningful a life as Dawn was able to enjoy!

Thanks Mick.
Although our RP by necessity tended toward adversarial for the last while, I always respected the qualitiy of your play.
Dawn enriched the server, adding layers of intrigue that was great to watch (from my limited perspective).
See you on the other side with your next character!

Re: Thank You All
My only consolation is that Mick is still alive. Dawn will be missed, and here's to your next PC!
Re: Thank You All
Thank you Mick,
Thanks to Dawn for making so many of us part of the story you were tellling, and for making each of us feel important for the part we played in it (big or small). Dawn was one of those special characters that brought PCs together and then bound them as a group. Best of luck with the new PC, may he bring you as much success!
