Thank god!!! Spell effects suck! I dont know why the people that made this game thought they had to have walking christmas displays to represent that some one had a spell on them
Re: Removing Spell Visual Effects.
I have noticed on the single player if you are a druid shapeshifting will remove some spell effects. For example with barkskin you lose the brown colored skin but still have a shrub growing out of your back. Maybe there is some clue there.

Re: Removing Spell Visual Effects.
We could edit the spells themselves but that would take time and effort, and be harder to maintain...
What would be ideal is if it could be suppressed / enabled as a global flag / option.
AL?

It really is not to much trouble for me I just avoid the spells I don't like the effects for like barkskin. I would like to see protection from evil fixed b/c lots of pcs use it, that would solve more than half the problem.

Re: Removing Spell Visual Effects.
As I mentioned above, the spell effects are distracting for RP, provide meta-information that should not be available and (just imho) are aesthetically unpleasing for the most part.
My PC having the "extend spell" feat, it is not unusal for "standard op" to be to cast Extended Prot evil, Greater resistance, Prot. Elem, maybe Death Ward and have them running for a long time in game. None of these should have a visable aura per PnP.
You can argue subjectively about whether you like or dislike the fx, but because of the first two concerns above, I would prefer to have them out.
That said, if it's a huge workload for an already overworked tech dept. I can live with them. I was just hoping there was a relatively easy fix for it.

Re: Removing Spell Visual Effects.
IIRC, in ALFA1, the spell effects were removed on a per spell basis, and I'm assuming you'd have to do the same in ALFA2. One of the concerns with spell effects is also that they can create a bit of lag.
Current PCs:
NWN1: Soppi Widenbottle, High Priestess of Yondalla.
NWN2: Gruuhilda, Tree Hugging Half-Orc
