NWN1 Cleric Domains

As we have some extra domains added, hwo does one select them on character creation? Does the DM have to add them once in game?

As I recall, the trick is to extract a .2da file from the .hak and put it in override while rolling up the character.
It works, but it's not for the faint of heart. :wall:

You also have to know which number down the list is the one you want; since the custom tlk doesn't load until after character creation; so the extra domains appear to have mysterious names like "Old Woman" and "Small lump of coal".

Alternatively, you can take a different class for first level, and start into cleric on leveling up to 2nd; which circumvents the problem.

Absent alteration of a character .bic file, such as with Leto, I'm unaware of any ability of anyone, DM or otherwise, to jerk around with domains in game, such as with a wand, widget, or anything else. I suppose one could be designed to remove all domain feats and re-add ones of the DM's choosing, but that's just a wild guess.

Hollyfant has successfully done the override thing before, I believe. If heart's set on a single class caster, maybe seek him out, I only recall the vaguest details for this one... maybe it was shoving a domains.2da torn from the guts of the relevant hak (which means using nwhak.exe) in the override folder? Forget.

AL is also correct that taking one's first cleric level in game as opposed to at creation, means all the hak goodies will be available without any undue strain in terms of override abuse or Leto.

Extracting the whole 2da.hak file into overrides will let you select a domain (and skills, in fact) by icon. Not perfect, but it is a way to verify whatever count you pull from domains.2da.

Alternatively, if you have a DM who's afraid of Leto and you are personally unable to figure the blasted custom domain icons/numbers out, rolling the character in an ALFA module loaded in single player and then moving that into your vault (obviously requires access, and I imagine anyone putting such a .bic into your vault would insist on poking through it carefully to make sure everything is as it should be) saves a lot of this trouble.

Would it be appropriate to take an alternative domain (chosen with the DM), instead of mucking around with overrides and vaults and everything?

Ah, Multiclass. Now why couldn't you just say that in the beginning, HEEGZ ;)

Personally, I don't consider alternative domains much of a problem. But aren't our domain assignment enshrined in the rulebook?
A step by step guide how to get the domains (and skills) you want might be more appropriate. I'd write one, but I don't have NWN1 installed atm. How great is the urgency?

Not too urgent. Game starts Wednesday, but I'm happy going with alternative alignments - just PMed the DM to check.

Oh, and no. Domains are no longer enshrined in the rulebook. They use to be in the APM but I removed that a while ago.

Hmm, if they're not in the APM anymore, is the suggestion to just go with whatever you find in Faiths and Pantheons, or what?
