Rolling Fresh, any ideas?

Post by Lucas Manderik »

Hey all, most of you probably don't remember me, I was only here briefly in the spring then some things happened IRL and I haven't been able to play. I had a pally back then (Lucas Manderik), but am wanting to roll a fresh character. I have been throwing ideas off the wall, but really, it comes down to me what would be able to best run with others, since that will be the most fun for me. If you all could help me with knowing the current in-game climate, either through PMs or just responses, that would be great! (That is, I don't want to make a character that would be an outcast to all of society and hence be playing a single player's game, so to speak).

Anyway, best of wishes to you all!

Lucas

Welcome back.
I am going to be starting a campaign for good characters this monday, and will be a weekly PST session + spur of the moment stuff. A new level 1 paladin would be welcome as it would be joining magile's new pc. Of course if you'd rather not play another paladin, that's fine, and you are more then welcome to bring in another type of good character, but the quest giver/mentor for these quests is a paladin and so a lot of his teaching is more martial oriented, though he is accepting students of any class, as long as they are pure of heart.

There are a lot of warriors, a smattering of scouts, and a couple of wizards.

Not a whole lot of priests that I have seen...

Yeah it's best to dry it properly before you roll up.

I have never played a favored soul before, they look interesting and would kind of be a mix of cleric/pally type, from what I understand. Any thoughts on 'em? (I have never played one in PnP or in NWN).

I've got a priest(ess). She's been away for a bit, but is returning very soon.

I played one, and it was quite fun to play. mechanics wise, a sorc/wiz relationship is the same as spirit shaman/druid. Shamans get few spells, but can cast them alot, without preperation, from the druid list. Granted, without an active dm interest the spirit shaman won't see all that much benefit to their class abilities, I believe min only encountered a couple of Water elementals before he died that his cool nifty powers worked on....but mech wise they can be real healboats, especially with augment healing, and get access to some cool spells that most except for druid don't, like entangle, bark skin and flame weapon!

Beyond that, the rp potential is probably the better of the classes. My character was blind, bu could see when his spirit guide was with him, performed elaborate death rights involving the elements in order to release a soul from the world, communicated with fey and rebuked elementals, and that is just scratching the surface. Being able to hear/see the dead, to hear/ see elementals such as when the wind blows, or tiny elementals in a fire, the list is ever expansive. There aren't to many concrete things set down about the class as to where the exact power of the SS's spells comes from, so you can rp it as you see it. All in all, I had a blast rping mine, true fun and never a dull moment. MIss that one, for sure.

Well, I think I'm actually going to end up playing an Ranger of Eldath, which should be interesting.

However, the jury's still out on races, I am a lover of humans, but what is the racial balance like right now?

Loulabelle did an awesome Eldath PC in NWN1, one that I enjoyed thoroughly. Definately an awesome character concept, as I beleive she was above level 10 and very peaceful. I look forward to experiencing your PC in game and wish you much luck!

I haven't had the pleasure of playing with Lou in ages! Where's she at? We could use her hippy-dippy RP style on TSM  I always enjoyed being DMed by her, and would love to see how she handles a PC for the long haul.
