On this, I use search a lot on our forums to keep track of a huge number of things for mods and such. Does our current post count indicate that threads are deleted, or achived, or what?

The counters are reset. It's not because alot of old stuff is gone, it has been for a long time,- the counters just never updated. As part of upgrading versions, a recount was done. I can look into picking the old data out of a backup.

Keep it how it is. No point wasting time onthat when you could be doing more important things. Even better, remove post counts altogether.

If the fix takes more than 5 minutes, I'd say drop it. Another quick fix is to hide postcounts all together.
