It looks absolutely awesome Zic. Our impression to the outside world should be far more professional.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put down the guys from the old website, they have done immense work also.

I love the "Dark Fantasy" forum theme. Highly recommended.
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there

I gotta say I'm actually a bit surprised at the lack of feedback on the move, both in terms of the website itself and the forums. I'm going to go out on a limb and take that as a good thing. Please don't hesitate to comment with ideas or suggestions though. There's a certain amt of headroom really, and Im definately open to changes/improvements.
I am guessing some of you are feeling a little "lost" on the new forum setup, especially with the default theme. It's one of those things that takes a little getting used to. One HUGE recommendation is to start using the 'view new posts' link. It's pretty essential IMO.
Also, please let me know if you would like to have help out with things. There are lots of areas of the website that could use a good going over. We could add artwork to the various parts of the APM, update old/wrong info etc, further improve info for new players and how its presented etc etc. I have a fair bit of trust in the members here, so I am quite happy to give out access to edit things to anyone interested in helping out. Basically the only requirements are that you write fairly decent english, and actually know a thing or two about ALFA and the various goings on.
PM, contact me on IRC or post here if you're interested.

Let me just say i REALLY love how when you click on "PM" for a person in a thread, it auto-magically quotes the thread, AND links it. This is great.

I don't really like the twilightBB style, but I find myself being stuck with it since it is the only one without gigantic blank margins on either side of the page. What's the point of those?
Images in other styles are either cropped or cause broken tables in the case of DarkFantasy and GWA.

Yeah, they're actually a bit poorly done those.Kest wrote:I don't really like the twilightBB style, but I find myself being stuck with it since it is the only one without gigantic blank margins on either side of the page. What's the point of those?

The margins on each side make sense when you try to view this in 1280x1024.
In terms of usability and human-computer interfacing, the default style is pretty much perfect as far as I know. Really broad pages with long lines of text is supposed to be bad for a lot of reasons.
Again, if you know about a good one that I haven't added just let me know. Try and look for something seemingly serious though. The work done to 'port' some of these old school themes to phpbb3 format is poor at best. Missing images and such..

that is my resolution actually, the margins are enormous. I know thinner pages are easier to read but still don't like having that wasted space.zicada wrote:The margins on each side make sense when you try to view this in 1280x1024.

e: wait subsilver2 seems to work the normal way I'll use that instead
