Zelknof I fully agree with you buddy, it might be me, because yes indeed the only three RDDs I've seen IG were killing machines.

I remember back in the day when the guild I used to be part of was in war, and the rdd was in the other side of the field, we used to talk for hours trying to figure how to kill him, so you see how it was.

Im no expert in building it, and I throwed some stats in the console just to see how it would end up.

I still keep my initial believe, its a very powerfull class who combined with certain other clases produce a insanely powerfull toon.

Can you make very powerfull toons with others clases? Yes!!, cleric was several time referred and even though we dont have many IG, to tell the truth they are too few, but thats one of those classes, its a base class who atari fecked up once again, OR that the players fecked it up with their "Buffinfg my own ass game style"

The only cleric I've seen well played was Hughes not long ago and unfortunately his toon died.

If for some special reason the class was wayyy out, Im sure the Admins of Alfa would already have prohibited it.

So to make a short story short. Its an allowed class, any admins or DM would have answered it, and the purpose of this post seems to be moot. Because in the end some people still think its a bit cheesy and others take it like another one of those classes who take the adge in terms of power.

.. although this has been far too clean a debate for my liking

more personal slurs 4tw :D
hehe not yet mate

but the savage frontier (esp in ALFA) IS a dangerous place so it's always good to be excited about a new concept

The RDD is indeed capable of producing a "killer" build, but it completely pales in comparison to a frenzied berserker in melee killing power. There's not even a contest, the FB outdamages the RDD by a margin of two, at least.

Are you sure the RDD in question simply wasn't well played and high leveled?

It might also be that you simply made a huge issue out of something that wasn't.

Yeah, everyone who plays a cleric is lame and sucks.
Current PCs:
NWN1: Soppi Widenbottle, High Priestess of Yondalla.
NWN2: Gruuhilda, Tree Hugging Half-Orc

Dorn does suck. :D

Not that the class he plays has anything to do with it, though...

Im only refering to the toons that I know well, there might be some other clerics out there who are well played. Hell i bet its easy to come up with a background to justify your using the buffs to protect yourself and not to help others, and to be more worried with your own arse then with others. But as I see it cleric should be mainly a support character, doesn't mean there wont be any exceptions the case is the exception is usually to see a cleric being the support character.

Even though I admit some recent builds surprised me in a good way, I never met Dorns toon that much to speak about it, but Micks cleric seems to be a very nice one!

Very easy!

Observe:
Patron: Azuth, Bane, Cyric, Eilistraee, Gond, Kelemvor, Kossuth, Lolth, Malar, Mask, Mystra, Oghma, Shar, Shaundakul, Silvanus, Talos, Tempus, Umberlee, Uthgar, Waukeen, Akadi, Auril, Beshaba, Garagus, Gargauth, Hoar, Istishia, Jergal, Lovaitar, the Red Knight, Siamorphe (holy crap Siamorphe!), Talona, Tiamat, Ubtao, Ulutiu, Velsharoon, Gaunadaur, Kiaransalee, Selvetarm, Vhaeraun, Abbathor (holy crap Abbathor!), Deep Duerra, Dumathoin, Laduguer, Vergadain, Erevan, Fenmarel, Shevarash, (can even argue that the rest of the Seldarine doesn't ask their clergy to look out for n'tel'quess -- they just pat fellows on the back if they do.), Brandobaris, Urogalan, Geb, Sebek, Set, Thoth, Bahgtru, Gruumsh, Ilneval, Luthic, Shargaas, Yurtrus, Maglibuyet... hell, I'm sure I'm leaving a couple dozen out. I've minor and greater powers for every race and region in there, though. All of them grant their clerics spells and either tell them not to help others (like Cyric and Malar) or have goals totally unrelated to peoples' wellbeing (like Bane and Gond).

Unless you want to ask people to be bad role players so you can have buffs, or if you want to restrict cleric faiths and alignments for PCs. :P

Actually, priestesses of Luthic are supposed to be heal bots for their fellow Orcs.
