there's some nasty bugs in them thar hills, wynna. please look into the quest updating scripts. a few of us had some trouble today with completed quests being offered again but no journal entry being added, or having one sort of quest completion allowing for the other type to register so i could get the next in the first type's sequence
ie. completed raid mission, got gp and xp, then tried to take next one, later, and it offered the first again. when i took the scout mission and completed it, it then allowed me to take the next raid mission.
my companion was forced out of the area of the spawn for one quest and could not complete it. nor did he get the credit for my completing it while we were parited, after i took that mission by myself from the giver.

As BH has mentioned, i cant help wondering it there could possibly be a problem with my characters journal? It had some surgery a little while ago getting fixed up after a Shadow Sword problem, since then on two out of four seperate cases, quests didnt update.

Much more likely that it's a problem with the quests - which ones did you have issues with?dob85y wrote:As BH has mentioned, i cant help wondering it there could possibly be a problem with my characters journal? I think the issue is with partying while taking quests. They're set to solo currently. So if you take the quest, but somebody else in your party completes it for you....no XP, no update. It was deliberately done that way to keep scattered groups from receiving XP for quests they don't do, as well as to keep the quest balanced. They're built to be a challenge to one 3-5th level PC to accomplish. Solo quests, in general, mean that the PC who takes the quest has to do the quest, rather than firing it then getting XP when a higher level PC in their party finishes it more easily. Anyway, with those being the reasons behind the way it's set up, it seems partying is messing with the quest state updates.
I'm mostly afk this weekend but will look at options with Curm and the DM team this week.

Enjoy the game
Damn, TSM is the first ALFA server I've played on, but you guys must really have suffered from balance issues on previous servers to have these many barriers in place against powerleveling lowbies. Quests really ought to be for parties, right? I mean, on an RP server, that is.Wynna wrote:I think the issue is with partying while taking quests. They're set to solo currently. Again, due to its HC nature, I made a super duper party support character when I joined TSM. I'm wishing I'd made a super duper soloer instead, my character can't do any of these quests or fight on his own, and when he tries to do so in a party (as intended), he doesn't get jack then either.
Not that I want to hijack the thread or anything, but ... rats.
Raid 2 in Settlestone, I ran home for reinforcments, after which the target never came back, not sure if now it can never be completed?Curmudgeon wrote:Much more likely that it's a problem with the quests - which ones did you have issues with?dob85y wrote:As BH has mentioned, i cant help wondering it there could possibly be a problem with my characters journal? As a consequence i was never offered Raid one, it just straight up gave me 2, right after i completed scout 1.
At fourth peak i did the gnoll pass one, but i was not alone and did not finish the beast, another did, again, no more gnolls on the pass, but no completion either.

Generally speaking, the raid/combat/scouting quests should work fine while partied, though they will not give credit to a PC who never took the quest (nor will they bar such a PC from taking the quest properly later).
It is quite possible that this latest set of new quests is not yet functioning in this manner, it took a great deal of debugging and fine-tuning to get the Rivermoot and High Hold quests set for it.
The intention has never been to encourage solo play, nor should it be in any way necessary to the completion of statics on TSM; I believe Wynna's advise was more to the effect that, since the testing was done solo, partied PCs may be finding some bugs that were before unanticipated. A measure of patience should allow the problems to be found and remedied.
I'll be back in town sometime during the week, at which time I will help hunt down the problems if necessary. Until then, it might be best to avoid the new settlestone/fourthpeak suite of quests.

On a completly unrelated matter, are skeletons supposed to have damage reduction against a monks unarmed attack? Noting that the unarmed attack is considered a bludgeon weapon? This being said, i havnt tried a bludgeon weapon against them so do they have DR against Bludgeoning weapons too and are they supposed to?

To the best of my knowledge, they only have DR vs. Piercing and Slashing. Why your fists should be considered either of those, I can't guess, other than : BUG.dob85y wrote:On a completly unrelated matter, are skeletons supposed to have damage reduction against a monks unarmed attack? Apologies for what (looking at it in the light of day) sounds like a grumpy complaint in the middle of your bugthread AL, let me also say, you guys rule. Thanks for the response and all the hard work.AcadiusLost wrote:I'll be back in town sometime during the week, at which time I will help hunt down the problems if necessary. The other day I was fighting some skeletons with my Flaming Vigilance Bastardsword, then swapped out to my sling, for ranged attacks on one more, further away. I had standard sling bullets equipped at the time. I was very surprised to see 3 fire bullets shoot off at the skeleton, destroying it. I quickly checked, and my normal bullets were still equipped, but my last 3 fire bullets were history.
Once or twice in the past, I had also noticed that for some reason, after swapping to my throwing axes, in the heat of battle, the axes (standard, not fire) were alslo doing 1hp of fire damage, but since i had no fire axes, i assumed it was a simple freak of nature. This time, it actually took items that were in my inventory and used them, despite the fact they were not equipped.
