I think the purpose of this thread was for some players to express there concern about an exp framework.

a) Identify concnerns
b) Identify a range of possible solution for staff to consider if an update takes place

As the framework was implemented a while ago and we've had a few months of working with it this is a reaonable thing. Sorta like we'be beta tested it now and it should be reviewed (not replaced, but reviewed to see if it should continue or change).

Same thing happened with the morale scripts. Implemented, tested, and tweaked. ALl good and proper.

Paazin has now initiated this review with ayergo and demson (as indio pionted out they are crucial to this) so the thread has sorta completed it's purpose?

And while we dont all have access to the DM forums where this will be worked out by relevetn staff....well that's appropriate really, if everything was designed/debated with the whole membership then nothing would ever get done.

I'd hate to see it now degenerate or go off track.

A server that promotes roleplay and interaction should reward you for being in a party, not reward you for soloing. That's all we're talking about here.

The xp system currently in place is designed to discourage farming and power-leveling of newbies by more experienced characters, but it does so to such an extent that if you want to roleplay with people you do so at the expense of character growth. This is to suggest a revised system put in place that permits both, in a reasonable, balanced fashion.

Personally I love the scale of the xp awards given out in the game, the balance, how much time is spent at low level - fantastic. Never been on a server where Mage Armor or Magic Weapon were uber spells before. Getting a 10 xp award from a DM for roleplay is brilliant. Adore spending all this time at lower levels. So please, do keep it this way - my only complaint is how partying up reduces even the small amount of xp from combat to almost nothing, if not 0.

The problem he's pointing at is not the discussion about how XP slpitting should be handled. That's all good. I think his problem is more with the fact that people actually seem to care more about scavenging 2-3 points of XP per combat than having actual player interaction. SP mods are far better for that.

I believe this discussion has more or less run its course. Revisions to the combat XP functions will be applied after numbers have been sufficiently crunched.

Hopefully it is also clear, that reduced XP reward is in no way a justification to act OOC and purposefully avoid others for the purposes of faster advancement.
