You have been vocally and rudely critical of all ALFA DMs and Builders in the past on more than several occassions. This has put me and several other DMs and builders well off-side in the past. Your platform is even more insulting..

What makes you think you'll be able to contain yourself in the future?

What makes you think you have the temperament to lead me?

And you think I should throw away all my work on the Moonsea?
What gives you the right to tell me that all the work I've put in over the last two years has been for nothing..?

Perhaps moderating your position to not authorising the beginning of any new servers rather than scrapping ones where people have invested a lot of time would be better.

I agree there are too many servers on the books for our current membership, but Thangorn has a good point.

Firstly, they have been working under permissions given by previous admins
Secondly, others have made the point some of these servers are morethan a year off, and my suspicious after seeing previous efforts fall down due to the enormous workload that's involved (and the ever dwindling, or at least not growing, team of builders, scripters and story DMs) is that some are never going to go live.

Altering policy for improvement before it is implemented is a very good thing with 'new information'.

However i think the biggest challenge to your candidacy is previous attitudes. Those can be overcome in time and i'm glad you've set yourself to build a better relationship with other alfans and perhaps in a future round that might pay off.

Now that the penguin is running, and you have less of a snowflake's chance in hell of winning, will you bow to the inevitable and concede?

Us PR efforteers are currently working on a promotional campaign. The idea is to base it on a progressive story of some kind, which reacts to applicants and ALFA world developments, and with developments that can be advertised.

Working on this, I came to the realisation that ALFA as an administration and community has very little attention going towards plots. This is strange, since plots is what most of our in-game roleplay eventually results in. It's what our roleplay is about.

According to the charter, part of the HDM's responsibility is global plots and quests. Do you have a vision on this? Any experience? Any plans for an effort on this? How much effort would go to standards and the management of Dungeon Masters and how much would go to this?

Is NWConnections a tool the DMs Corps should use?

If yes,

Would you work to increase its use?

If yes,

How?

It looks to me your agenda is to put all the control in the hands of the DMA, leaving the HDMs to fight over the attentions of the DM staff, while paying homage to the great DMA when they want to have another person added to the DM list.

I see this as a bottleneck and a gross insult to the HDMs. It's basically saying, "we don't trust the HDMs to pick DMs, so let's put into the hands of the DMA, whom we trust." Well, I have actually trusted DMAs less than HDMs. Also, while a particular DM may be applicable to dm one area, he/she may be totally inappropriate for another area. As it presently stands, if an HDM wants to have someone DM on their server, it's a done deal. If another HDM wants the same, it is still a done deal. So, really, what are you changing? All the power in the hands of one? And if that 'one' should become unavailable for an extended period of time (which, btw, has happened more times than not), what then? No DMs added?

As to once a DM always a DM, why? Just because someone was a DM in the past doesn't mean they get to waltz in and do their damage. HDMs "SHOULD" have the ability to 'control' who is accessing the server and making modifications. What you're proposing is a full-on "who cares, let's just get DMs in there."

Well, there is no denying ALFA doesn't have enough DMs ingame... but the cause of this is repeatedly being forgotten, or sidestepped, i'm not sure which. In NWN1 ALFA, it is due to the NWN1 project being sidelined. In NWN2 ALFA, there is only one server and the energies are being put into building, repairing and adding. Only a handful of DMs in TSM are actually DMing, most are building and testing. That's because TSM isn't really a 'ready for primetime' server. Oh yes, ready enough for a DM to DM in, but all that a DM needs is a little box and a kill button, so let's not blow this off so easily.

Anyway, the builders are presently working to add content so that people can play in TSM when there is no DM available, which is most of the time. The idea of getting more DMs in TSM falls back into the whole issue of trust, and just how much you want to give. You see, the solution for many is to allow DMs to also have a PC ingame, so when they are not DMing, they can play, and vice versa. It works on many other PWs without much of a hitch, but it's frowned upon here because of the fear that DMs will pimp their PC.

Another issue is this forum, which desperately needs to be updated to phpBB3, so that members can put various forum sections on ignore, and thus focus only on those areas they 'want' to participate in, rather than having to hit the "new topics" and end up with a mish mash of crap posts and overall hostility. Really, that was one of the reasons i stopped dming. I wanted to just read the forum sections related to being a DM in TSM, but there was no 'easy' way of doing this. PhpBB3 will address this issue, and allow people to filter out General Discussion, Off Topic, or any other area if they wish to.

And finally, it's the continued lack of respect presented to contributors, to members, to DMs, and most of this coming from a relatively small handful of people who don't 'ever' log into the game, or do so very rarely and then go out of their way to 'avoid' interacting with DMs. So... are they ALFA material, or just trolling the community for kicks? The focus should not be to cater to a crowd, but to cater to the people who play, dm, and build.

In closing: "Fear, Distrust, Disrespect." Still the issues that need to be resolved. Bottlenecking, by concentrating the power into the hands of one, feeds all three problems, rather than overcoming, or even remotely assuaging any of them. So, with all due respect Lancaster, you really haven't looked into the problem. If I'm wrong, by all means, show me where. If you have a brand new platform to present, by all means show us, because the one you are presently standing on completely misses not only the responsibilities associated with being a DMA, but a comprehension of the problems at hand.

Love you too Magile. Now troll someone else.

From a DM perspective, I prefer to focus on one server area, so i can build stories related to the events and format of a particular area. If a storyline bleeds into a different area, so be it. But, as in the argument posed when "multiple PCs per player" becomes a debate, concentrating on one server area increases overall dm storyline quality and depth.

We can have DMs that toss out random stuff, completely disconnected with the events on the server, or we can have DMs that are in-tune with what is going on, and are willing to put the effort required to mash their way of DMing to the format and events in that particular server. I, for one, think quality over quantity is a better thing, because quantity generally means a DM drops a monster and walks away, leaving a pc to live or die on a DM's whim.

Yes, we want more DMs, of course... but I think most of us want them to 'concentrate' their theme to a particular area, thus creating 'intrigue' and not merely adventure.

tl;dr

And there we have it. Infra Admin demonstrating a modicum of his trolling skillz.

Btw, are you planning on holding the website, forum, or vault hostage again? Thinking of threatening to delete anyone's PC from the vault again? Planning to double-up on your sex-oriented video postings in chat? Is there something else i might have missed? Hope you're doing well.

Hehe, welcome back WW, im excited to have you with us again! You're a great asset to our community.

Interesting choice of threads for tl;dr and then trolling though.

This is the last post you have posted in this thread. Make a new one if you feel like trolling.

And he's worried about anonymous mods abusing their authority?

If WWs posts are inconsistent with the purpose of Platform Threads, moderate them out. Don't badger folks with more trolling and then hammer with a blunt show of force when they respond to it.
