rumors:

Sergeant Baron, the commander of the Rivermoot milita, was dressed down loudly and in public by some mean old man from the House Invincible.

The Helmite priest and his swordsman aide have begun commanding milita in the village of Rivermoot. A flurry of activity is noted in fortifying the town.

The Helmite priest flogged a local militiaman for patrolling while drunk and sent him off to High Hold for imprisonment. (although some say the man was thieving from the food supplies in the tower).

The orcs are massing again in the hills. Attack in imminent. Their leader is an ogre wizard with blue hair.

A contingent of dwarves is coming to build a stout tower where the Angler's Inn currently stands. Then they are going to mine silver from a hidden cavern discovered beneath the village.

rumors:

Ship Captains that land in Rivermoot are coming under pressure to unload any metal, foodstuffs, stone, and other provisions in exchange for a "Letter of note showing duty done to the Lady of the Marches"

Passing merchants and welathy adventurers in Rivermoot are being pressed hard to make "Dutiful Tithe" to the House Invincible to aid in the securing of the safety of the Realm.

Cloaked members of House Invincible can be seen, with occasional local citizens in tow, clearing out the empty packing crates and boxes scattered around the town square courtyard as well as from underneath the archer's platform, breaking up the wood for use in cook fires.

Other work parties, lead by House Invincible troops, are hard at work filling sacks with sand and dirt and building up the broken sections of the stone wall closing the gaps that would allow ranged weapons to be brought to bear against anyone entering or leaving the argent legion tower or the area beneath the archer's platform.

Word spreads from the guards at Rauvinwatch Keep that the elven ranger Thoron, the dwarf Galrus and the Priestess of Lathander, Dawn Shiningeye slew three werewolves in the wood across the River Rauvin from the Keep. Frightful howls had been heard upon the rising of the moon. Thereafter the Priestess informed the guards that three werewolves had been sighted feasting across the river.

The guards in High Hold tell of how Galrus opened a tied blanket to reveal the severed heads of three werewolves. He piked each on a long pike and placed them prominently near the High Hold bridge.

Both recently promoted officers of the Rivermoot Helmite forces, Trusty Rathalan Whitsword & Watchblade Lemuel Ogdenstorm, have been awarded the coveted Silvered Clovis medal, sporting them pinned to their cloaks above their right breast, while their gleamingly new rank insignia sit proudly upon their shoulder epulets.

Both officers can be seen moving from one work detail after another, keeping the repair, clean-up and construction teams working diligently, as well as maintaining daily patrols and sentry duties. Words of encouragment and and appreciation of efforts expended are oft heard from the two battle-scarred men.

........although Rathalan Whitsword is just as likely to be sternly lecturing a man on his unfit uniform, dressing down for arriving late to a guardpost, or using improper terms when addressing superiors.

Word begins circulating that the newly promoted Watchblade of Helm is looking for volunteers to join him in investigating the reports of vampires in the Wendover Ruins crypt. No firm date has been set, to anyone's knowledge, but the feeling is that the sooner, the better.

*A new notice posted prominantly on the inside faces of both leaves of the inner Rivermoot gates*

Warning to all residents and visitors!

In accordance with defensive measures being taken in and around Rivermoot, all are given due notice that several pits will be dug around the water-side perimeter of the town, to be filled with either water or spikes and then covered with thin coverings of sod and dirt to disguise their appearance. In addition to this measure, fine, razor-sharp wires will be strung from boulder to boulder, and from tree to tree, at ankle height, along the shoreline on the side of town facing the graveyard.

All are urged to avoid these areas, and make certain all children and visitors are made aware of the situation, to avoid deadly accidents. After these measures have been emplaced, a visible mark will be painted in the town-facing side of each boulder to visually confirm the updated defensive status.

These measures are being taken with full knowledge and cooperation of the local militia, Argent Legion and Battle Priest Ambrose Pemberk, Watchknight of Helm, House Invincible.

Watchblade Lemuel Ogdenstorm
Aide-de-camp, Helmite forces or Rivermoot.

*returning from scouting the hills and looking at the poster Thoron asks a guard what it says (since he can't read), grunting a chuckle and muttering something he walks off*

Soon after, the guards in and around the gates begin joking about how there best not be any spies within Rivermoot, for its a handy little guide of the new defenses has been posted for all to see.

'Nathan was asking about this, asking everyone abouts here high and low about who the Red Knighter was. Seemed in a dark mood to be sure before stomping off to the Red Knight chapel in highhold' (send me a PM if anything comes of this)

In other news:
Apparently a small group including a lathanderite priest, local born sellsword, strange elf and strange accented woman had quite a fallout with Highholds Sergent of the Legion about his carelessness in dealing with some undead threat to the west. Hollering about it with the door open of the Legion watchtower The group were sent packing and were overheard talking about hoping the Marshall in Rauvinwatch had more sense and care than his subordinates.

Word spreads that the recent exploits in were-beast hunting by elven ranger Thoron, and the Priestess of Lathander, Dawn Shiningeye , have brought them together on a personal level and that they are expecting a child together soon.

It can be heard on the streets of Silverymoon that one of the stoutfolk entered the city with what looked to be a mechanical spidar...or at least half of one.

It can also be heard within the University itself that Master Garlic has returned the mechanical Fourlorn to the University to stay for good. The mechanism can be seen being tinkered on and otherwise walking around Aeroneous.

"Way he tells it, he saved Hrafen Jye's life, he says. Says he called her over to sign off on the courier packet down t' Rivermoot and 'bout then the side o' the mountain fell off and came crashing down right where she'd been standing. Luck of Tymora with her, I say. Swept away the western part o' the Fort and the stairs up to it. We're just now hearing 'bout it cuz they were cut off for a while. Labored days, they did, just to clear the fallen rocks off what they could, but the way's open again now, down from Forthpeak and onward to Settlestone, s'wat I hear."

In the Rivermoot inn:

Death stalks the roads, he said, aye, death. Thirty eight men butchered in one caravan, not a league past Rauvinwatch, and their spectres walk them hills still. And them what killed them? Gnolls they say, and four dozen slain by mercenaries too late on the scene. But thousands more waiting in the shadows to take their place I'll wager. Ain't a wagon in the Marches that's safe, not e'en the Yellow Moons no more... Evil times. An' y'now what else? E'en the river's spewing up atrocity these days... Some dwarf brought in the leg of 'n of 'is kin... T'were just floatin' there, bootless an' covered in slime, and not a sign of the rest of 'im anywhere t' be seen... Aye, evil times...
