I assume it wil be much like a patch in that respect. Once tech makes sure it won't mess everything up it will be required, just lioke all expansions are required for NWN1 and MotB is required for NWN2.

Ah, right. Party interaction since BG has been pretty poorly implemented anyway, so I don't think we're really missing on all that much. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's only 4 PCs instead of 6. I look forward to being able to try out 4 different build concepts in one go.

NWN1: Soppi Widenbottle, High Priestess of Yondalla.
NWN2: Gruuhilda, Tree Hugging Half-Orc

Party interaction has never been as good as the BG system because they keep trying to improve or alter it, when they could just god damn copy it.

MotB wasn't pretty damn close though.

I certainly intend to use content from it in my build from the shipwreck placeables, new critters, new appearances and overland map implementation (pending on how good it is).

Us builders love widgets, I think its safe to assume you'll need the expansion at least within a few months of release.

Well, I guess that puts a hard cap on my membership, then. :(

I think you'll find most communities will take it on Avaz, ALFA wont be the only one to use the expansion. I did say probably "a few months after release" (Australia and New Zealand will likely have it up to six weeks later than anywhere else in the world) and it wont just be ALFA, it will be pretty much every popular community who will require SoZ to play.

Thats the way these things have worked in the past. Saying that, usually ALFA waits as long as is reasonable for the majority of the community (obviously for those who play on the NWN2 platform) to catch up before updating.

You already have the Mask of the Betrayer expansion obviously. Have you already spent up your computer game budget for the year?

If it takes you a little while to get the expansion, you can still play in ALFA NWN1, which is still being strongly supported, until you get it so I dont see why you or anyone else would have a "Hard cap on your membership" unless of course you don't have NWN1.

You'd only need it on TSM if they use content from it I'd say, which they may not do in the short term *shrug*.

:offtopic:
I understand the nature of expansions and PW's, Thangs. No, I don't have NWN1, so that is not an option for me. And as for a gaming budget, I have a certain amount of dollars set aside for a particular post-nuclear role playing game set to release in "Fall 2008". Knowing myself, I won't be able to distribute my time to both equally. I'll get obsessed about one for a while, then I'll move on to the next thing, instead of splitting evenly.

But in all honesty, I'm also likely to just say screw it and buy both, like I've done in the past, heh.

Anyway, SoZ is looking pretty sweet, I admit.

Sweet, I just hate to see people writing themselves off out of turn, especially good players/contributors like yourself... :)

The screenies look pretty sweet! I know that some of those models would be perfect for some server ideas floating around my head. ;)

I must have missed this the first time around:

Character Death in SoZ
and the new death system, which forces you to resurrect your fallen party members or have them healed in a town rather than simply bringing them back to life at the end of the current combat

Coolness. The never dying thing always bothered me. Being able to go to negative HPs equal to half of your maximum HP (e.g., if your character's max HP is 100, he can drop to -50 before dying) seems strange... but makes sense I guess.
