I believe static quests do involve Standards. If memory serves correctly, many of the quests on TSM had to have their rewards fixed (in this case, lowered) due to the amounts they were giving for what risk they provided. Sadly, I'm not able to provide much in the way of links as I have no access to Standards, but perhaps someone on the team/someone more knowledgeable can give a better answer.

As far as I'm aware, any form of experience/reward is based from Standards.

edit: I've been informed that static quests are up to the DM and its team to design and implement; however, the general guidelines for keeping everything smooth falls under the DMA. Standards has a hand in what's going on, but not completely. By the sounds of it, if you can get this general guideline, you can tweak from there.

edit #2: To quote Acadius, "They're advisory to the DMA, with the stated purpose of helping DMs/builders get on the same page," but not an actual enforcement. Someone just posted the thread itself, so hopefully that will help.

but it didn't act like a link, did I miss it?

I did, but then quickly realised that the wiki is still a bit wonky after the server move (none of the wiki is there, but they were there) and hence pulled the link.

Here is the listing of items reviewed for ALFA servers.
http://www.alandfaraway.org/phpbbforum/ ... hp?t=34360

I'd be happy to email you a copy of the standards to help you work out what the community (mainly TDawg) has put many arduous hours of discussion and implementation into. They are on the DMFtp AFAIK if you wish to grab them yourself.

It is imperative if you are actually building an ALFA server that you understand them to avoid wasting your time on building/scripting things that are only going to get s**t-canned.

My honest answer to your initial question is that ALFA standards should be used for static implementation on ALFA servers.

Okay folks...

http://www.alandfaraway.org/phpbbforum/ ... hp?t=34155

The closet thing I can find ...

Black means ... not currently being discussed...

Thats of no help of course.

I really do want to see the guidelines for static quests according to standards and it seems to me it should be easy to find.

There is a "Team -Standards & Training" usergroup that is permission only.

((I don't have permissions anymore because I'm just a lazy player only :) ))

I am sure that that subforum contains extensive details of not only the standards, but of the discussions, arguments, counter-arguments, counter-counter-arguments leading to their implementation.

Maybe someone on the standards team or hialmar or someone else in leadership can give all the builders/ potential builders a looksee.

Since the Standards part of the wiki is under redevelopment the links on this page might be useful:
Player Documentation
  • 5. Wealth and XP Guidelines
    • ALFA Standards - Part 1
XP Guidelines (link is set to edit, page is empty)
Interim Wealth Guidelines - By Level
Interim Wealth Guidelines - By Encounter
      Item Pricing
  • Currently NWN1 ALFA: Ryld Ky'bler
Currently NWN2: Gwindor Faelivrin, still not actually dead!

Formerly: Timyin Tim, Glorfindel Inglorion and Beleg Thalionestel amongst others.

yuss here is the basic rule of thumb standards which I have worked with..

Statics
Gold and XP
Average Static : Quest CR x 25*
Difficult Static : Quest CR x 50*
*This figure should include the value of item rewards (eg Half Plate), where practical

Rewards should be no higher than what you can get in a DM quest of the same duration and CR is also somewhar in the NWN2 standards.. perhaps Veilan can chime in and enlighten folks a little more on this..?

So is there no limit to the number of statics either on a server or that can be completed at a time?

I.E. If I make 100 statics that are all worth 25 gold/exp and they can all be done at the same time ... that would be bad.

I'd hope that someone doing a bunch of statics together to maximize gain would be pulled aside and talked to. There is as far as I know no limit to the number of statics someone can do, but the rate at which one goes through them is limited by common sense.
