Static EXP limits

Post by Nalo Jade »

Sorry I couldn't think of any other way to do this other than having one thread for gold and one for exp.

What in your opinion is the maximum EXP that a 1st level player should be able to gain from statics over the course of 1 week (assuming they are playing at the extreme high end maybe 4 hours a night X seven nights) 28 hours?

Same question but minimum instead.

Assuming that the average ALFAn plays 1/4 of that time, do you think the numbers you submitted divided by 4 is reasonable for static content?

to make this a little easier to see can I get someone to make a poll...

Which option best describes what level of static content rewards you find acceptable for the 7 hour a week player. [edit: the over is because I am assuming that the player would also get RP and/or DM exp]

over 1000 exp
over 750 exp
over 500 exp
over 250 exp
over 125 exp
over 50 exp

FWIW, I am leaning toward the 250 exp choice

I have received your opinions on whether or not these threads are of any value, please stop posting your disdain for the thread, if there is no interest they will not be made into polls and they will fall away in oblivion.

Thanks. feel free to PM me if you want I will read em.

It seems "Other" isn't a valid poll option.

There should be no XP or even a wealth cap set per "week" of play because the term "week" varies too widely to be of any use whatsoever. A week of play for one person might be 60 hours or more while for another it could be just 1 two hour session... or less.

Repeatable static rewards for XP and GP should be based on time it takes to actually do the static and should be somewhat inline with the RPXP rewards (15xp per real life hour) with a modifier for risk. Players will likely get XP from the critters so the modifier for risk should mean more GP only. XP should be based on time only.

What it comes down to is abuse or grinding of statics which is always the primary concern with repeatables. At what point is it considered exploiting? If repeatables are somewhat inline with RPXP rewards the concerns over abuse should be minimal.

Personally, I'd like to see lifestyle statics like mining, treecutting, fishing, smithy, booze-makin to add flavor while players wait for others to come on.

For the record, the statics I write generally reward between 25 and 75 gold or exp.

If it is a repeatable quest, I will introduce some sort of challenge, such as wild animals on a patrol quest route.
