To now do a U-turn and say we can relax our rules because the logs are so good seems somewhat disingenious.
I really do tire of all these disparaging assaults. Taking things out of context, attacking my integrity, and other groundless "character assassinations" are totally unacceptable.
Well, I'm sorry, but as you did actally say it, it hardly counts as a "disparaging assualt", "attack on your integrety" or "groundless character assasination."

Slagging someone, anyone with words like "disingenious" implies a hidden motive to do harm so I'd really like to see a bit more civility used when disagreeing with each other on the forums. No need for backhanded comments like that.

As for the issue itself I don't support it though I wish I could. I've spent most of my ALFA years playing on The Pirate Isles (Wipes a tear) & Sembia because of their high level of inter-player scheming that has rarely ever led to CvC. It's an absolute blast to play on servers where you just KNOW people are plotting against each other for power and influence and where black is a fashion statement and not a billboard to announce evil intent that's KOS.

Suggesting multiple toons sounds fine on the surface, especially when we're talking about Goodie servers where evil players are hunted down or forced into tiny corners of real estate until they become almost extinct. Yup, much easier to envision the proposal when it's mostly the player base vs the spawns but honestly that's rather boring. Servers need evil players and this proposal just makes it even harder.

Suggesting we restrict server travel is not a solution or at the very least is a harsh one. I like travelling until I find a fit for my character concept and have drifted through Loudwater, Frozen North, Waterdeep, Daggerford, Baldur's Gate, Northern Cormyr, Westgate & Earthspurs so let's face it, servers come and go so travel is a must for many. I prefer a past suggestion of allowing a second toon that's restricted to the Underdark but of course that's no longer even an option.

Lastly, log checking is a pain in the butt so I'm against anything that adds more admin work or red tape to a DMs duties. We need to free them up so they can actually log in and interact when they have free time. Sure anybody can take advantage but that's hardly a valid reason to justify multiple characters. A healthy server has room for both good and evil characters so allowing multiple toons undermines that effort for abvious reasons.

Differences of opinion on the subject need not turn to personal attacks or condescending suggestions. Since joining ALFA I have attempted to contribute in positive ways -- including by posting and discussing this topic in what I believed to be a reasoned and dispassionate way respectful of the opinions of other members that are different than mine. The fact that this thread went on for so many pages, and the topic apparently keeps coming up, tells me there is quite a bit of kick left in this horse. Thank you to everyone who replied in a positive way regardless of whether you agreed with the suggestion or not.

I asked the PA for a community interest poll (if such was permissible) on the issue and never received a reply. I am assuming that is a no to the request. I don't want a topic I posted to spawn any type of unecessary and distracting drama. I am requesting a lock of the topic please.

lol omg

    I'm sorry, that is just. . . Don't call that man disingenuous!!! hehe wow. Props to whoever called someone disingenuous, tl;dr, but seriously, it's okay to express your opinions of someone especially if you consider them to be disingenuous. Keep up the honest opinions less we all end up like empty smiling goons too afraid to express themselves honestly. (you know the type of people I'm talking about.)

Sir, I was intending on just spamming this thread with pictures from 4chan but new civility rules prohibit me from doing it FOR GREAT JUSTICE AND THE GOOD OF ALFA. I am required by law to make that statement. It's part of my rehibilitation program. I also have a fondness of knitting, strange. . .

. . .Anyway, the multiple character minority has yet to prove their point as to why multiple characters should be allowed. The simple truth is you can't please everyone and ALFA has its own distinct rules and systems. Please make a new thread in another three to four years for further discussion. Thank you.

It's not what you say but how you say it Helios that's a real big problem in these forums and it's really nice to see that the OP gets's it without ever resorting to pot-shots because people disagreed with his suggestion. I suppose the next thing we'll see is a freedom of speech rant about the right to say and treat others anything they want.

Civility does wonders to minimize senseless drama.

Nice to know you're not above the pot-shots yourself.
My "rant" as you call it was not intended to justify people's right to say and treat others any way they want. My discussion was about a call for civility while maintaining freedom of speech which is entirely possible. The problem lies in within the people who abuse rights which happens frequently but not unpreventable but the issue is far to complicated to DISCUSS here.

Civility requires will power whether there is a system in place or not.

Also, this was a rant, but you were asking for it.

P.S. I'm not making drama. . . :laff:

LOL,

Silly man, read my post again. I said the next thing we'll see is a rant. I didn't say anything about your last post being a rant. Hardly a pot shot to predict that someone won't be able to resist ;)

Only in ALFA can a request for civility result in an argument over what comprises incivility. Please don't rules lawyer your posts in justification. I'm talking to you, Helios. The starter of the topic has requested a lock.

Locked.
