Downloading the NWN1 hakpaks

Post by Demson »

Trying worldgate at http://www.alandfaraway.org/downloads/NWN1/ reports it cannot connect; the external server returns the error not found (404)

I tried linking the directory, the worldbuilder subdirectory and the ini file directly. I also tried with the downloaded ino file 'from url'.

Always I get 404.

Is there any way to download the nwn1 hakpaks without going through all 25 of them manually? Or is there a way to get worldgate to work?

25? There're 16 and a tlk. :P

And no, not that I'm aware of, but it's not that much work to download and decrompess a handful of files, anyhow.

16 haks and 1 tlk. That's what I have and I play every week. ;I

There's a bunch of optional stuff though, like music and portrait packs files.

Here's what's listed on the Player Wiki:

The 'optional' stuff might not be required to load the module, but I don't see how would want to kip on them, unless you have a slow download speed. Both music and portraits are rather important in a gameplay experience.

On another note, are any of you in the position to look after this worldgate thing? There's a .ini there that doesn't work, and it's rather misleading if worldgate is not supposed to work with this.

Worldgate is currently set up for ALFA NWN2 servers only. I don't think that any of the ALFA NWN1 hak info mentions Worldgate...

Had no awareness anyone had created any Worldgate-looking NWN1 directories... none of the very few people doing care and feeding of the NWN1 haks have had anything to do with that.

Cipher's link and PL's links seem accurate enough.

Note there's also an ahp_3.04 that I think half the servers are running (I think we can declare the last few weeks of problem free operation a "success"), you'd find it on Jaydemoon's mirror easily enough. Time probably isn't right to update the wiki until all servers decide to bring that content live.

Additionally, I'd pick up the two highest numbered TLK files, again, since the latest "goes with 3.04", the second latest "goes with everything before 3.04", so grabbing them both sure doesn't hurt.

Hialmar may have created the directories to allow a worldgate setup for NWN1, but I don't believe it has been setup nor have any of our NWN1 members really pushed to have it. The NWN1 content doesn't change much so the benefits of Worldgate for NWN1 are marginal at best.

If you want to play on an NWN1 server, just follow the directions in the Player Wiki and don't worry about Worldgate for now. Sorry for any confusion.
