Disappointed in the Voting Body (not what you think)

Post by Lusipher »

We supposedly have 40 able voters yet we see currently only 27 votes. Where are all the folks who have votes? If you are able to vote you should use that privilege. You are given a job here in ALFA to do one thing or another. As part of that job you are given voting rights. I personally feel that if you are given the right to vote and dont use it you should lose your right to do so.

Your not supporting the process when you dont vote. If you dont want to exercise your right im sure many others would do it.

So Vote.

One thing we did in the past was post a voters list. Id like to see that current list posted in public. Whos still here in ALFA and whos not but in a position to vote? No one says we need to know who you voted for, but if your not going to do your job you dont need the right to vote.

Abstentions won't show, though I doubt there were over 10 of those votes.

Abstaining is nothing but a cop out. If your not happy with either choice you still have a vote and should pick a person you think would do the best job, regardless. If you are someone who cant make up your mind then honestly you have no business holding a voting right. Its not rocket science and anyone not voting isnt proving a point.

You work with what you have and hope you make the best choice possible for the project.

No, sorry, but that is garbage. If you honestly believe all candidates up for election are not in the best interest of ALFA, why the hell would you vote for the one you think will be least bad?

Additionally, how the hell does a person chosing not to use their vote impact on their ability to do whatever task their role entails? If they are doing whatever job they need to do, the fact that they do or do not use their vote is irrelevant. Are we more concerned about people voting or doing what the fuck needs to be done to keep this place going?

I hope its the latter.

Doing their job is one thing. The fact they hold a vote while doing that job is another. If you have a vote you have a right that many here in ALFA dont get. You should feel like its your duty to vote and not squander it. Im not talking about people doing their jobs. Im talking about people voting because their allowed to by their jobs. If they dont vote then take it away from them. As I said others here would gladly vote in their place. If Admin finally open up voting to all ALFans this all will be a moot point, anyway. (which they should)

Its a a right/privilege. Use it.

While i understand the argument, there are many who simply do not want to participate in ALFA's politics, and instead just want to participate in the development of this project via hands-on. As well, there are many who do not want to step into the forums for any reason, lest they become burned out by the b.s. , like so many victims of the past.

Also, consider the positions they hold include the right to vote, but taking upon said positions are not necessarily taken with the 'specific' intent of being able to vote (although we do know some continue to sit on their positions for just such a purpose).
