Do other people need your portrait to be able to see it, or does the game transfer it for you?

Other people need it, the game does not exchange files between clients.

On the plus side, Worldgate makes it pretty easy to make sure everyone gets a copy, so long as the portrait you've got your heart set on is generally acceptable for distribution.

Also, since we can swap them out in real-time without rebuilds, you can improve it as you go along, another nice plus.

Considering there is no way of knowing which have been used by other players when you're looking at the list, and that they can be swapped out at will, hopefully polite tells can be exchanged when portrait collisions occur. Hate to see some poor new ALFAn who has the same taste in portraits as one of you get blasted over picking the nicest one available...

Can someone please explain a few things please.

1. where can you find the file name for your selected portrait? nwn.ini? I downloaded a huge amount of them.
2. How do you display a link on your sig that is a link to a download of your portrait?
