Tiamat?

You know, there is only one true God and only one way into his Kingdom in Heaven.

In both Exodus AND Deutoronomy it says you should have no Gods before Him.

So, let's be real and get back to business.

Blessinz of teh Ceiling Cat be apwn yu, srsly.

We may want to compile a list of Gods that we want to have access to, or that need to be changed from their current form. NWN2 forces restrictions on rangers based on their alignment for instance, and limits them to the Gods of Nature. Also racial restrictions only apply to Clerics in PnP. Missing Gods include, apart from Tiamat:
  • Sseth
  • Varae
  • Demons and Devils
  • Mulhorandi pantheon
If we're going to fix this, we should do it in one fell swoop I think.

As always, haks don't load before character creation, so even "fixing" Tiamat in the dieties.2da wouldn't show up ingame in time to select it for your PC. For now, you can pick Ao or Faithless, and inform the DMs via bio/tells/ /dm etc. It can get sorted out later via .bic edits, if needs be.

Obsidian has talked about changing the hak loading method a few patches down the line, so who knows. But until such time, it's not just a matter of "the tech team doesn't care about Tiamat", it's a limitation that affects a huge number of game systems we'd like to put in place. Diety selection is high on the list of what we'd fix if the engine allowed the fixes to count for anything.

depending on what class you pick, sometimes Ao or faithless doesn't show up

but i understand your point, just roleplay the difference

in addition to patching the timing of hak loading, could'nt they also just patch in the dozen or so missing ones easily?

maybe a new petition would work LOL ... i posted in the obsidian forums when they came out with the deity list very early on that they were missing several and their answer was "we have the deities covered that are most well known in the region that the game takes place in (sword coast)"

(also missing Bahamut among the ones listed above)
Garrigan DeLorre - Paladin 6 - died honorably in battle
X'Anne - Witch (Druid/Ranger mix) 4 - captured and imprisoned awaiting trial (retired)
Talon Xavaliir - Cleric 11 - living

"I didn't know he only had six kids, I thought he had millions." (on the passing of Gary Gygax)

'Twould be nice if we had multiple deity slots. It is a polytheistic society, after all.
Currently otherwise occupied.

FWI: I PW I play in a group on I believe handles the no haks before character loading by doing the following. They have completely custom deities and such.
Creating your Character

Due to a shortcoming with the NWN2 software, you must do the following before you make your approved TKL character.
1) Load up NWN2, log on to TKL using the above password, and begin the game with any character. If this is your first time on TKL, you will need to create a quick "dummy" character for this purpose. Note: Do not give the dummy character the same name as your approved character!
2) Click on Options, then Main Menu, then Ok. Then click Multiplayer, Join Internet Game, etc., as usual, to get back into the server. Do not shut down NWN2!
3) Create your approved character. Make sure that your character's name is exactly the same as what you submitted in your application, or you won't be able to play.

In case you're interested, the reason for all this is that important TKL custom features (races, feats, and deities) do not get "loaded into memory" until a player fully loads up the game with a character. Unfortunately, shutting down NWN2 clears the memory, hence the work-around. We'll make a public post when this work-around is no longer necessary.
