Server connection lag

Post by Stefan »

It appears that my connection to the server is not good. I noticed that during beta phase but tonight when I played in the party, lag was really nasty. I mean, my commands were answering somehow slowly and the worst was when I clicked to attack enemy. My character was standing and then after few seconds appeared right near the enemy attacking it.

I recently got ADSL connection and all other games I tried in multiplayer were working as predicted and that will say great, and NWN1 was working like a charm even with 56k connection for many years everywhere (including NWN1 ALFA TSM). Does anyone have an idea what I could do about this (any connection tweaks to try)?

I just applied my favourite tweak: rebooting the router. In some cases it can work miracles, and it's a simple act to perform anyway.

Oddly enough, my connections seems alright... around 300-400 or so ping wise, which is pretty good over the pond... but the moment there is combat, everything seizes up... might be server CPU, though... hrm.
The power of concealment lies in revelation.

Yes that's exactly my problem. Last time I checked at the logging screen, my ping was around 280-350.

I already got used that all my commands are late around 0,5 second (which is eternity for my play style, by the way). For example, when I click on the ground, I need, like, that amount of time for circle to appear. However, when I was alone on the server in beta, at least battle was working without a flaw... but yesterday in party this seizing up begin to occur as well during battles.

Might as well echo Veilans words here.

Perfectly fine until combat starts, and then things seize up, enemys warm all over the place etc etc.

Ive been in combat twice now, and havn't managed to fire off a single crossbow bolt due to the creatures being dead by the time things unlock, and my only spell cast in anger i am fairly certain hit a dead kobold :D

Working on a better-spec host machine with a better upstream bandwidth, might be able to transition over as soon as this weekend, if all goes well. Should help on both fronts (CPU and internet lag).
