Five!

Post by Rotku »

Was just scrolling through the old news (yes, I was bored) and noticed that in just over a month, it seems (Live) ALFA is turning 5! Not sure where I was going with this post, but I thought it was an interesting observation anyway. ALFA hasn't had a birthday celebration in a while.

Five years!
Sixty months!
One thousand, eight hundred and twenty-seven days!
Forty-three thousand, eight hundred and forty-eight hours!

Now, following that, let's say you get an average of 100 xp per hour. That means by now, if you played full time, you should have an average of four million, three hundred and eighty four thousand, eight hundred experience points.

I'm going to make the assumption that playing 24 hours a day, seven days a week for 5 years is all but impossible. I'm going to go one step further and assume that the most you can play over five years while remaining legally sane is an average of one hour per day, which gives one hundred and eighty-seven thousand, two hundred experience points.

So therefore, anyone over level 18 is either a lying, cheating bastard or criminally insane, so should be instantly banned from ALFA.

And that is assuming they started their PC the day ALFA went Live. Which I doubt there is anyone left (active) who started their current PC that long ago. So just to round it down a bit, let's make a compromise and just ban anyone who has ever had a character over level 5, shall we?

Today I saw Arana who said she'd be coming back, now that RL may be giving her some space to do so.

Her PC... 'Arana'... was created the day ALFA went 'Live' and is still alive and unretired at ~lvl 10.

Yay, Arana!

Vote her into the HoF.
<Burt>: two dudes are better than one.

DMG v.3.5 p.6, 8, and 14

not so fast my friend

<------- Talon

still alive and kicking

i was thinking 5 years of ALFA live will be in April

i actually can't believe that ~ seven years have passed since i first googled "Forgotten Realms Persistent World" and found ALFA
Garrigan DeLorre - Paladin 6 - died honorably in battle
X'Anne - Witch (Druid/Ranger mix) 4 - captured and imprisoned awaiting trial (retired)
Talon Xavaliir - Cleric 11 - living

The oldest ALFA-related file I have on my machine is dated November 2000, and I was here before that, I think. Time for the padded room for me :)
