Forest dwellers in ALFA2

Post by Dorn »

Hey there. Popped into chat last night. Spoke to rusty, insulted by burt, realised few peeps are on australian time. Things haven't changed!

Anyways.

I've seen some pretty cool pics giong up around here as we approach live. However i've been thinking about playing a ranger and i'm wondering about the long term viability of these type of classes in the NWN2 server world (not ALFA specifically, but NWN2 as a whole).

So how are these going to be for wilderness?

TSM - a few dotted with most features being cities and castles and forts?
Waterdeep -....probably don't need to say anything
Moonsea - going to have forests in it?, just one ap square or many?

I guess the last one is the most important to my coz of the aussie timezone. While my hearts kinda with TSM realism has to come into effect when you live in the best country (excepting online gaming) in the world. Without forests i'd find taking more skill points and abilities so on in rangering/druiding a bit silly when you spend all your time in the cities.

You should note this is not at ALL a criticism of the builders as it'd be the same all over the shop. I know we are hampered by the systems we have.

I hope we get some multi time zone DM's for TSM. Since it will probably be the first live mod for a while, I hope that we have a nice variety of DM'sd joining the ranks.

As for rangers, I love 'em. Rivermoot is a Ranger town, ruled by a council of rangers. There are 4 32X32 areas that are strickly forest: The Moonwood and Silverwood. The town of Quarryvar is a small walled logging town in the Moonwood, ripe for rangers who want to go picking flowers in Werewolf infested woods. In Silverwood I even build a ranger station for a guild of rangers to patrol the woods for the reealm of Silverymoon, and if that is not enough, the troll infested woods in the soutern area of Silverwood welcomes any rangers for dinner.

Also, I have built 9 highway connection areas and 2 Northroad connection areas ripe for exploring. There will be at some date either at live or after many things along those routes to explore, caves, abandoned towers, dungeons, weird druid circles, all sorts of goodies a ranger would be at home scouting for an adventuresome if not foolhearty party ...

Moonsea will have at least 2 ranger/druidy towns (Elmwood and Elventree) and plenty of bush to frolic in. Rangers arent all about forest though, what about mountain rangers? desert rangers?
On indefinite real life hiatus

[22:52] <Veilan> obviously something sinister must be afoot if a DM does not have his social security number in his avatar name!

You can substitue animal empathy with hobo empathy and get stealth bonuses while you're knee deep in excrement. Urban Rangers are the best.

You'll have four whole areas to roam around in.
“In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.” - Open Message to the Executive Branch.

I'm the Urban Ranger baby, I've got speed
I've got everything I need
I'm the urban spaceman baby, I can fly
I'm a supersonic guy

I don't need pleasure
I don't feel pain
If you were to knock me down
I'd just get up again
I'm the Urban Ranger babe and
I'm making out
I'm all about

I wake up every morning
with a smile upon my face
My natural exuberance
spills out all over the place
I'm the Urban Ranger
I'm intelligent and clean
Know what I mean?

I'm the Urban Ranger, as a lover second to none
It's a lot of fun

I never let my friends down
I've never made a boob
I'm a glossy magazine
an advert in the tube
I'm the Urban Ranger babe, but here comes the twist
I don't exist
