Not really my cuppa, but the "Hero" sits next to me at work. He is quite possibily the most annoying person in the entire world. And yes, his name is really Kris ("with a K") Hyman.
Post some music noobs
I'm a big fan of symphonic metal in general because as much as I like metal, it always seems more awesome with a choir, string, brass, or some combination of the above. I also prefer the singing to the normal growling in most cases.
Nightwish(new singer) - Bye Bye Beautiful
Nightwish(old singer) - End of All Hope
Kamelot - Forever
Kamelot - Ghost Opera
Epica - The Obsessive Devotion
Epica - Replica
I am always drawn to Opeth by their ability to blend straightforward metal with long and winding acoustic sections. I also find the singer's voice almost hypnotic when he's actually singing rather than screaming.
Opeth - Ghost of Perdition
Opeth - Demon of the Fall

I'd recommend Opeth's Damnation release;kmj2587 wrote:I am always drawn to Opeth by their ability to blend straightforward metal with long and winding acoustic sections. I also find the singer's voice almost hypnotic when he's actually singing rather than screaming.

"Windowpane"
"In My Time Of Need"
"Death Whispered A Lullaby" written by producer Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree.
I've posted several songs of Porcupine Tree earlier. They're a truly amazing band. Here's another - "Way Out Of Here" RIP Arielle
