6 years of development, and still no sign of a playable version.

Also, due to its features, it sounds like you will be at an extreme disadvantage if you do not have a very low ping (Manual Aiming, Blocking and dodging projectiles will be near impossible to time right unless you have sub 200 pings)

Edit: Ive also heard some pretty average reviews about Tabula Rasa so far from its beta.

tabula rasa was pure crap. I played the beta.

Well they have a playable version out and gave some guy a go at it. They have put out a video and there website seams to be moving forward with information. They are obviously taking a ridiculous amount of time in development. It appears from what I have read it will be worth it. I am not a big fan of first person(Combat will switch to 3rd person) perspective or real time combat either but it simply is impossible to accomplish a perfect environment. These guys appear to know where to make the compromises.

EVE is a great game.
I didn't try pvping for now but still I have a lot to do (missions, mining, training to be able to fly great ships...).

Just deleted my 70 BE rogue and canceled my acct after about 6 months of hard-core pve/pvp. Imo, world PvP is the way to go, but you can only gank so much before it gets old.

I'm hoping AoC or WAR will succeed where WoW failed.

WoW failed when you had to grind for ages to be competitive in PvP.

Still waiting on a excellect pvp based MMO that doesn't require years of grind.

I enjoy having more than 1 pvp capable character. :-/
