East Coast ALFACon 2006
Well... I'll set the date as 11-12 of August. I should be around a little before and a little after that. I've been trying to convince some of my friends to tag along, that's why I didn't post it before.
So, who would be coming and where would we meet?
Those from Boston, pick a place you think would be good.
cya!!

Durgin Park had pretty good beans last time I et there. The Union Oyster House has its adherents as well. Both are lovely olde Boston traditions.maxcell wrote:Also, if from Boston, where are the best beans?

wuh... beats me. what are people in the mood for? a english or irish-type pub, a sports bar, a chic and/or trendy bar, one of numerous clubs... tons of various other places and eateries - any thoughts?Legionnaire wrote:Places to meet ... Depends on where everyone's staying. I should be able to make that date and my parents live around that area so I can meet people where-ever.
paazin, any suggestions?

there's a few pretty nice places in allston, though they usually get a bit packed.
People talk of bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as man, so artistically cruel.

I guess we have the people who've posted on this thread.
I haven't had time to check on transport and lodging so far... too much damn work... So suggestions will be welcomed!

Those hostels are surprisingly good for $30, actually.maxcell wrote:the $30 ones you lose your achilles tendon however..paazin wrote:there are millions of places for lodging; hotels and hostels go from several hundred dollars a night to about $30

Okay, this is coming fast, who's still coming?
Which day?
Which meeting place?
I wanna make my arrangements this week. I'm planning to stay there a couple of days (before and after the week-end) anyway.

Well if you guys ever come in Quebec, i used to live there so...ring a bell.
Oh one more thing, if you do come (and not only for an alfacon), do so in summer (june/july/august), because winter might spoil the fun for sun-bound folks and the mid seasons are a roulette russe of bad weather.
Personally i like our winter alot, but...some of my african friends swore it's hell on earth (just like i'd swear his dry season would be).
