I think Joe Wilson's trip to Niger proved that at least some of the intelligence was bogus. Other countries largely had intel that *we* gave them, or was known to be bogus at the time and had been discounted by experts. The case for cooked intel pre-war is a slam dunk.

So they didn't have their own sources of intel? They depended mostly on us? If so, I don't put very much reliance in any of their intel since they aren't able or unwilling to do their own intel.

I heard that Mr. Wilson's trip only confirmed the CIA's assumption that Iraq was trying to go after WMDs.

Anyways, it's all moot. Unless it can be proven that Bush lied (not a belief but proof that stands up in a congressional court), he will not be impeached.

So why is this even newsworthy? Truly, what difference does this make to any of us that it stokes such emotion and consumes so much attention?

Perhaps because in 6 years of an inept President and his inept minions botching up everything they touch without consequence, the ONE person who is finally held accountable gets his sentence commuted. Kinda frustrating.

The intel we had pre invasion was what other countries also had on Iraq. (french, etc) so it wasnt just us who had faulty intel. We went with what we thought was legit intel.

That is just untrue. You forget that this was recent enough history that some of us actually remember what was being said at the time. The BS that the Bushies were selling was being questioned by any number of people and organizations around the world.
