Prong I remember seeing these guys years ago at the Limelight before Peter Gaitian got himself indicted, still one of the best shows I've ever been to. They've changed the lineup in the years since(holy crap I'm getting old) so I have no idea if their current stuff holds up.

Mord, you rock. In Flames is by far the best melodic death metal band of all time.
I can only agree. If you like that stuff, you should check up on a band called "Scar Symmetry".

Tool - Jambi

Awesome video and song from a great band that provokes much thought, from me at least. Check it out. Video is a little dark.

Tool - Right in 2

Monkey killin monkey killin monkey... Same guy who did Jambi. Excellent work as well.

Tool - 46 and 2 (live)

Tool sounds great live too. Maynard is a maniac.

Yea, if you couldn't guess... I like Tool a lot.

I love this song because it brings memories of a certain girl.

I hate this song because it brings memories of a certain girl.

This first one is for paazin (I remember from the desktop screenies thread he has a Shostakovitch folder)

exerpt from Shostakovitch's Quartet No.8

The movement begins with alot of gloom and despair
At minute 4:54 everything explodes in a frantic/angry theme with
tension building to 5:59
Then again to 7:43 where the first and second violins sync up (for a great visual effect) to a very abrupt end of the movement
(like a jumping off into the abyss)

___________________________________________________________

This next one is a part of the first movement of Mahler's "Songs on the Death of Children" (Kindertotenlieder) The poems Mahler used for the lyrics were written by Rückert who wrote them in complete grief after two of his children died within two weeks of each other.

The sun - it shines for everyone.
You must not keep the night inside you;
you must immerse it in eternal light.
A little light has been extinguished in my household;
Glory to the light of joy in the world!

El sol brilla para todos
No debes atrapar la noche en tu interior.
Debes sumergirla en la luz eterna.
Una lececilla se apago en mi tienda
Gloria a la luz jubilosa del mundo!

Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau sings Kindertotenlieder

At the very end after singing about the loss of his child - he sings "Glory to the light of the world!" in the most sarcastic venom-dripping fist-shaking-to-God sort of tone possible.

___________________________________________________________

And finally - here is my all-time favorite movement of classical music. The last movement (choral) from Mahler 2nd.

Gustav Mahler Symphony no.2 "Resurrection" movement 5 part 1
Gustav Mahler Symphony no.2 "Resurrection" movement 5 part 2
Gustav Mahler Symphony no.2 "Resurrection" movement 5 part 3
Gustav Mahler Symphony no.2 "Resurrection" movement 5 part 4

The Ace Combat video game series has some awesome music; someone put the song "The Unsung War" from Ace Combat 5 to a DoD gameplay video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWs_CapuePQ

It's just epic.

One of my longtime fav bands that sadly is no more...
those eyes...that voice :cloud9: *swoons*

Here's the same vocalist, a much younger Liz, singing the classic "Song To The Siren".
