Paazin said that friday might work, depending- we are indeed staying in manhattan through that weekend, flying home monday afternoon. We're staying in a kind of a hostel-like place, so not sure if we'd be able to host a gathering at all, more likely we'd have to plan for a place and time to meet up.

SF ALFAcon, Mikayla picked out a nifty happening bar/restaurant to meet at, maybe someone who knows the area can do the same in this case?

I know Twin lives there, but any suggestions would be welcome.

I am njub to Manhatten so I will be wanting to stay close to the action as possible. We would be coming in Friday the 6th and staying over night in a Hotel to Saturday to get amaximum enjoyment from all Alfans present. Heck if there is enough to do, we may even stay till Sunday

Lou and I will be there most of the week leading up to that weekend, so if nothing else we can scout out a good place- hopefully should have net access from the hostel or a cafe somewhere. Actually, I'd be shocked if we didn't.

Thanks to maxcel for pointing me to this thread.

I should be free around then, and I'd definitely be up for anything! I can head down to NYC on Friday (its only four hours or so from where I live), and stay until Sunday morning.

I am njub to Manhatten

Amen here too ... I've been there a couple times but that's about it. Good thing is, taxi or subway can take you to most of the places you'd ever want to go. Just let me know when and where.

Ok...things are solidifying .

Unless I am mistaken it sounds like Paazin will meet up with Acadius and Lou earlier in their week in NY.
Me and Mrs Max should come in on the 5th (Friday) staying to the 6th in Manhatten near to where Lou and Acadius will be staying (simply because I am a country boy and not at home in cities at all ) We may be able to stretch that to the 7th too.
Alynn and Wvincenti are coming in the 5th-6th as well ???????
Legio is coming in ....?????
Twin Axes lives in Manhatten so...he is putting all of us up ?

Anyone else who is an Alfan and is physically and geographically able to make this mini get together but does not of course will be mercilessly pwnt for eternity.

I just saw this thread ...hmm.

I'm on vacation that weekend...heading out of town from cleveland Monday morning... but maybe a weekend in the city would be fun if I could find a decent hotel and flight price.

I haven't been in the City since this summer....but know a couple fun places down Soho/Tribecca/Grammercy (would have to check credit card receipts to find the names though

)

Haven't checked out this thread for a while...but I'm in Brooklyn and could probably put one or two people up for a night or two. I'm not much of a pub crawler but I know a few dingy places. Looking forward to meeting all of you! I think.

Lou and I will be flying into JFK from london tomorrow, arriving 2 PM EST. We'll convey ourselves to our accomodation in the upper west side (W 86th st), then try calling Maxcell and Paazin (as those are the numbers I have), in order to touch base.

I suppose we'll explore the surrounds and try to choose a good place for people to meet up, unless Twin Axes or someone wants to recommend somewhere.

Anyone who wants my mobile number can PM me, I'll hopefully check in at a net cafe or something.

Someone please post where and when this get together is happening once it's been decided.

Bill and I may make it, but it's looking doubtful atm. Bill's got something that's looking more and more like pneumonia rather than bronchitis, so we'll have to see how he feels.

Well, Lou and I are staying in the Upper West side till we fly out on monday. It's becoming a bit last-minute, but hopefully a few folks can make it out.

Current tenative plan is meeting at a pub (The Parlour, on west 86th, if we don't come up with somewhere better) sometime friday (tomorrow) evening / late afternoon. Possible clubbing friday night, depending on who is there and musical preferences (since I only know about one place, and it may not be people's thing).
