Melbourne totally sucks... Mainly because it's too many hours away from Sydney and therefore is too far for me to travel... Maybe next time...

Anyone feel like planning something? Perhaps a bit early since its "winter" and all, but it would be cool to have something to aim for.

Suggestion: First weekend in november? Discuss!

Aus ALFACon seems to have fallen into a bit of a tradition of happening on the Australia Day weekend - which is January 26th-ish.

How long are you in Aus for Joos?

No movement date will be needed then. I was gonna leave this post dormant until august or september anyway before starting organisation again.

We should see if we can't hold it elsewhere this year. I certainly wouldn't mind Brissy, but then again, i despertely need an excuse to go to movie world to go on the Superman rollercoaster ;)

Actually i'm due a trip to melbourne to visit some family who aren't very well. ANd both melly and sydney to catch up with mates.

If there was something either ther or sydney i could kill three birds with one stone.

There's a chance that Air New Zealand might be upping their international flight prices in a month or two time (made sooner prehaps with petrol!).

What is everyone thinking about 2007 so far? Same weekend, same city?

Same weekend, maybe not the same city. Last 2 have been in Sydney, and i know Bool would probably enjoy it being elsewhere this time, its just where else is convenient?

First ALFACon sydney was most convenient cause we had about 6 dudes from sydney, last time we only had 2 or 3.

And even then we spent most of the "inside" time at Thangorn's hotel room - so we really don't need it to be a city that someone lives in.

(ie. I believe that was one of the cons of having it in Melbourne last time)

If 1 (or 2) of us grab a hotel room - then others can crash, and it can be any city...

Another vote for Melbourne. If it was, one (comfortable) or two (not so comfortable) peeps could crash at my place. :-) I don't mind going elsewhere though.
